KQ8 new installer - unable to run

I downloaded the new installer from the forum and was able to install it using my original cd without problem.

But when I try to run, I get to the splash screen fine, but then a black screen loads for a few seconds and I get a Windows error telling my "Mask of Eternity stopped working".

I am running on Windows 7 32-bit and have tried changing the compatability of Mask.exe to Win xp and even to Win 98 - running as administator, both. I also tried in 640x480 mode but still had the same results. Anything else I can try to make this work?
