Can anyone tell me how to get the Take a Break Crosswords and Pinball games to work on Vista? The Crosswords won't open at all, and the Pinball games all open but they say "Cannot create a file to save the game" when I click Start, and there is no audio at all, and pressing Down Arrow does not move the plunger. I didn't see any installers for them, but thought I'd double check anyway.

These are 16-bit Win games. It may be possible to get them to run on 32-bit Windows, but I am not is a position to try. If all else fails, you could try installing Win3x in DOSBox to then install these games.

Ok I got Windows 3.1 up and running in DOSBox.. Man talk about taking a trip down memory lane.. Anyhow, both games run ok, except when I start each of the programs, it tells me "This file may not play correctly with the default MIDI setup". I do hear some sound effects during gameplay, but no music. I installed the recommended SB16 driver when setting up Win3.1. Is there a better driver that these games are looking for or what?

Just experiment with the different settings.

It's weird, sometimes that message pops up, sometimes not. Sometimes the music plays, other times not. I've tried each preset in the MIDI Mapper.. Are there any other settings I should be experimentng with?

Anything to select from the games' setups?
