I now have a copy of LSL7 (thanks Bonny!
), but I only have Win7 and this game will only run on Win98 or ME. Is there a way to install it on Win7?
Thanks!

The
installers page has new installers for both the DOS and Windows versions.

OK, I'm downloading the Windows installer... just wondering now. I'm sure I know how to use it, but just to clarify - I have to install the game from the CD first, and then run the Windows installer - right?
Please let me know. Thanks!

I can't remember with the LSL7 installer - but I am pretty sure that's not correct.
Download the Installer.
Insert the LSL7 CD.
Do NOT install from the LSL7 CD.
Use SHP installer.
The installer will ask where the CD is.
You tell it.
The SHP installer does the rest.

Remember, the Windows version has NOTHING to over over the DOS. In fact, the Windows SCI interpreters are generally far buggier than the DOS. In addition, you will need to play with the CD and the DOSBox installer will give you CD-less play and ability to play Windowed or full screen. Windowed mode has been removed from the Windows interpreter. Note also that jafa has not been around for some time, so there is no one to report/fix any bugs that you may encounter.

Yay, the DOSBox installation worked fine and the game works great!
I'm not sure what's happening with it, but I have a couple of questions:
1. At some points during the game, I'm experiencing static on the voice (particularly interactions between Larry and the voiceover). Does that happen to anyone else?
2. Also, during some cutscenes (e.g. Larry's entrance into the Captain's quarters), I'm experiencing a video issue, in that thin horizontal lines appear across the screen. Does anyone know why this happens, or what I can do to fix it?
Thanks!

Yeah I had the static too. It's triggered when you enter a location with new music and disappears when you get a different background tune again. It was pretty frustrating.
Not sure how to fix the interlacing either. You could try
squirtthecat's installer to see if it solves your problems.

Do you have a couple of save games from right before you encounter these two issues?

When I played, I got no static sounds. (Nor did I have any video issues... the only video I remember with lines is the final video, if you get all the Easter Eggs). And I just recently played LSL7, because I was working on some stuff for Larrylaffer.net ...

Unfortunately not.
However, I know that the interlacing issue occurs during the opening cutscene (i.e. Larry walks up to the ship, being welcomed by Captain Thygh etc.) and also during the "Larry enters Captain Thygh's cabin" cutscene (i.e.
the scene where Larry gets the helmet/spear etc.)
Sorry! I can probably make a savegame or two if you need them. Just let me know.

Keep any save games from where you may encounter problems so I can take a look.

I know it's 5 years late, but I still have the issue...
It pops up at random. I cannot post a savegame.
The issue can be resolved by going to a different location, meaning that it's only nasty in a few locations that are hard to reach, but it's noticeable and rather annoying. It affects speech, sound and music.
You can see it happen in the section of this video with the firemen, 9 secs in:

9 seconds in, it almost sounds like clipping.

Save the game(s) into a .ZIP file and you should be able to attach them.

I'll try but since it's random I'm not sure what good a savegame would do... sometimes when I load a savegame I get it,,,
