King's Quest 5 - game (almost) freezing

I've asked about my problems with a few games elsewhere, but have received no really useful feedback, so I thought I'd be back to this forum. I've ancountered bugs seemingly not described on Sierra Help in two Sierra games, "Gold Rush" (I'll write a separate post) and "King's Quest 5".
As for the KQ5 bug: I almost finish the game... but not quite. After the magic battle with Mordack, during the coversation with Cassima, the game always does something similar to freezing. Cassima says "After all you've been through, there must be a way!"... and this dialog box never makes way for a new one. I can still move the mouse (so I wouldn't say it's precisely "game freezing"), that colored thing on the right - Graham's shrunk castle, I suppose? - is still animated, but I just can't move the dialog further and finish it completely.
Someone told me on Moby Games that zhe has had the same problem way back in the 90s with the Windows voiced-over version. Mine is the floppy version, I think, but it's the same problem. That person didn't remember how zhe solved the problem at that time. Maybe I have a broken version?
