Cracked.com just released an article entitled
"The 6 Most Absurdly Difficult Video Game Puzzles", which unsurprisingly, includes some classic Adventure games in it. Two of the games listed are from Sierra (King's Quest and Gabriel Knight 3).
I found the article pretty humorous, especially the first part on The Longest Journey. That game had some of the most screwed up puzzles I'd ever seen!

As soon as you mentioned KQ and GK I knew exactly which puzzles they were.

I was confused when I saw Hitchhiker's Guide with graphics. Apparently it's a Flash version on BBC website. Does anyone know how to download it? Apparently, it's not as simple as downloading the SWF files, and download tools I've tried haven't worked.
Version 1:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers ... olan.shtml
Version 2:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers ... drew.shtml
Here are some of the files I downloaded to try to get it to work:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game/guide.swf
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers ... ent.v7.swf
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers ... hguide.xml

That's working on your computer? I tried that but it says "
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers ... hguide.xml failed." Which is why I tried downloading the XML file that I gave a link to. I get an Flash Player Security message that pops up too about how it's trying to communicate with
www.bbc.co.uk.

Cat-stache!
You know, I never
did figure why on earth Gabriel needed such a ridiculous disguise. Mosely doesn't have a 'stache; Gabe doesn't have a 'stache. So why does Gabe need to create a 'stache in the &%*@ing first place???
It makes no sense...

It's explained in the game, if you combine the hat and coat before you add the moustache and think at the combo:
A109AL0L.PF1
That outfit looks pathetically Mosely-like, but my face is still *way* too good-lookin'.

Im surprised that nothing From KQ3 made it in there because you have to spell everything out exactly with no misspellings for the different spells that you get in the game. But I can see where they were coming from with the Rumpelstiltskin puzzle. Hows every one to know to use the backwards alphabet. It is kind of like the puzzle in Castlevania2 Simon's Quest for the NES at the part where you have to duck down at the dead end with the red crystal to get to the final 2 mansions. How any one figured that out without any kind of guide is beyond me. Im surprised that puzzle did not make it into that list.

I recall that you had to kneel with more objects to reach new dungeons (at dead ends, water boundaries spring to mind). So I think I simply tried that, there might have been some hint in the game as well to do it. I was pretty young when I finished that game. It was one of the first games I finished and don't recall it as difficult. The end battle was extremely easy: jump, golden knife throw, repeat.
