Allow me to be the first: for the first time I have left my master in order to attend this ball.
My name is Calcifer, I'm a fire daemon whose job is to move the house of a wizard. I also keep his bathwater warm.
I wouldn't advice people to dance with me: I'm quite warm to the touch and above all: stuck to the fireplace, but I'll keep the ballroom nice and warm! And if there's any left-over food, hearts or souls, I'm glad to consume them!

Greetings and salutations, everyone! I am the Loremaster, royal scribe to Her Highness Queen Hope of the land of...well, all you need to know is that it exists in a pocket dimension within another universe filled with aliens and plumbers. Thanks to a freak encounter with a nano-mechanically augmented young woman, I've been on a journey which has lead me through various dimensions, universes and realities. I'm presently staked out in Oakhurst, California - which, coincidentally, used to be the home of Sierra On-Line.

...While I shall spare you the details about my adventures, at least in this thread, I do believe that I should mention my scribing tool: The Book of Life. It's a magical book which contains the life stories of every person who has ever lived as well as those who are presently living. While the methods which are needed to learn about the deceased seem to vary - I say "vary" as I have very little knowledge of how the book actually works - I can typically read the life stories of the living by coming into contact with them. Of course, if the person, living or dead, is aware of my reading, even on some subconscious level, the resulting story will likely be inaccurate.

DISCLAIMER: The Book of Life has no use for government or military secrets. Don't ask me for any because I don't know any.
