SierraVenture / Hi-Res Adventures on PC

Some of the SierraVenture / Hi-Res Adventures were ported to PC. These are pretty rare. The best known of these is probably Adventure in Serenia, the PC port of The Wizard and the Princess. This was not the only one to be ported. I have this old ad that shows that Ulysses and the Golden Fleece was also ported. I think that there may have been a couple of others ported, too. Does anyone else have any information about these ports?

First time I see this add! Are you sure they actually ported them though? Wouldn't be the first time an add was made, but the product got canceled (and this add must have been around the time of Sierra's near bankruptcy). I'll ask Ken and John.

If you look at the description it gives the requirements and says that it is "available at your local computer store." This is a scan of the actual ad, which I have.

You guys are killing me  .

Already got a reply from John:
I know that Cranston never made it there. I'll just be honest and say I don't think Ulysses did - but I've been wrong before. I know Cranston was never ported to anything other than original platform, and bet than Ulysses never made it because we pretty much stopped porting the old hi-res stuff to the PC/PCjr as soon as we had King's Quest up and running on those systems. (Also, there was the issue with the programmer - well documented in Hackers - that kind of made it hard to get anything done on the property for legal reasons.)

According to Moby, Ulysses was ported to Apple II, Atari 8-bit, Commodore 64, FM-7, PC-88, PC-98 and PC Booter.

Until they have a box art shot, I'll believe John Williams over MobyGames any day.

The PC Booter screenshots would suggest otherwise. Unmistakably PC Booter garaphics.

Here's something that rarely happens...

I think I heard Rudy's head explode again.

The annoying thing is picking those chunkies of brain from the floor... again. Somebody mentionned they found a downloadable copy of Ulysses for the IBM on a site somewhere (you know the kind of site he's referring to). Pretty amazing I never saw a copy of it, or even heard of it. Oh well... fun to learn new stuff.

Think of it as a new quest. :)

I do know they made an actual cardboard box for Ulysses. There are also cardboard box versions of Wizard and the Princess and Mission Asteroid. Wizard and the Princess I know was ported to the PC and I know for sure that the Mission Asteroid box version was only for the C64. I'm not entirely sure but I think Ulysses was also ported to the C64 since there are a few boxed copies of it around.
