Cultural questions for our non-US friends :)

Could any of you not living in the US answer these questions for my friend? We worked together at our old workplace and she's going back to school for nursing. In her one class, she must interview someone not from the US about their country's healthcare system. She doesn't know anyone outside of the US so I told her I might be able to help her out with my online buddies. :)

The questions are pretty general but if you'd like, you are more than welcome to PM me your answers. :)

A meeelion thanks! :D

1) What is the country, region or culture?
2) What is the typical greeting in this culture?
3) What does eye contact mean in this culture?
4) What does a soft voice or a loud voice mean in this culture?
5) What is the belief in this culture about touch?
6) What are the beliefs in this culture about going to a physician?
7) What are the beliefs in this culture about taking prescription medications?
8) What are the beliefs in this culture about the role of nurses in health care?
9) How do persons in this culture usually respond to pain? What do they believe about taking pain medication?
10) During serious illness of a person in this culture who is considered the decision maker about treatments, etc.?
11) Are there specific rituals that are usually followed during illness of a family member?
12) What problems could arise when a person in this culture is receiving care from American health care providers (e.g. nurses)?

Sent you a PM, Jules. I have a feeling your friend wanted responses from very distinct and different cultures than that of the US, so my answers (about Canada) may not help all that much.

Thank you! I'm sure she'll take anything, as long as the answers are knowledgeable about that country. :)

ARGHGHGHGHHGHGH!!!! :( I just wrote you a very complete and informative PM, and when I pressed "Send", the *&@%ing SHP forum told me that somehow I wasn't logged in anymore and had to log in again. Then, when I logged in again, my PM was lost... and I spent about an hour or so doing all kinds of cultural research and so on!!!

*bangs his head against a wall* :x

Awww Rath!! I hate when that happens. Sometimes if my messages are long, I'll do a quick Ctrl+C if there's a hiccup in the connection, just in case. :( Well, they always say, "it's faster the second time!" hehe. ;) It's up to you if you'd like to do it again, but please, don't stress yourself out! *hugs* :)
