Carol of the Bells

The youth group at my Church is having a Christmas concert next Sunday night and they asked me if I wanted to play anything for it. My favourite Christmas carol has always been Carol of the Bells so I said I'd do a version of that. I love the Transiberian Orchestra version so I made a cover of it completely from scratch that I could play along with at the concert. It'll be the opening song so I thought it'd be cool to open with the original a capella version. Would create a cool atmosphere. Anyway, I also made a version with the lead guitar in it so I could upload it. Enjoy.

Hold on - you're a fan of TSO?
Very cool. You weren't a fan, per chance, of SAVATAGE also were you?
(Where TSO, essentially, came from...)

Here's the performance as it happened last night. I played it twice, actually. I was the opening number and then they encored me to play again at the end. The first video had someone talking in the background, my playing was really sloppy, and I had my guitar pedal set to the wrong effect preset so there wasn't enough distortion. This is the second recording and is a much better performance. The only problem was my wife clicked the stop button on her camera too soon so you don't get to see the big finish. I tried splicing this video in Windows Movie Maker with the ending of the first time I played it but the audio was all out of sync. Oh well.
