Urban Runner
The game just arrived at my home, in right time for Christmas!
Is there a way to install it so that I can play it under Dos Box?
Thanks!
EDIT: I managed to get the game works, but it keeps saying me to insert the cd, even if the cd is already in the case*. So I made an ISO of the cd, but how can I say to the game (O_O) to look at the virtual drive and not at the actual one?
* I had the same problem with So Blonde. I thought of a fault of the game, but now I'm starting to wonder if there isn't anything wrong with my drive

Re: Urban Runner
Use ScummVM to run the game. It is the tool of choice for the Coktel Vision CD games.

Re: Urban Runner
Can you help me a little bit? I'm quite handy with DOS Box, but I know nothing about ScummVM, and the Help Pages don't cover this particular problem... I can't find anything even on the official forum
Thanks...
Thanks...

Re: Urban Runner
Urban Runner is in the process of being added to the supported games, so you will need a subversion build of ScummVM. Start ScummVM and click the "Add Game..." button to browse to the game's files to select the game. You can then start the game from the list of games.

Re: Urban Runner
Thanks Collector! In the meantime I managed to make the game run in Windows XP by manually copying all the .STK and .ITK files from all the four CDs on my folder. I don't know if it can work when the game will ask me to change CD in the drive, but I hope so. If it won't work, I'll try using ScummVM but I have to say that I totally dislike it - DOS Box is much more intuitive and powerful to use (or maybe it's only that I'm more comfortable with it )

Did you check the Help Page for the game? Urban Runner Help.

Re: Urban Runner
Oh yes, it's where I learned how to solve the memory problem
I'll see if copying the files resolve the XP playability and then I'll let you know.
Down to the game itself, I'm at the very beginning, but I'm liking it!
(I'm surprised, 'cause this may well be the first Coktel Vision game that I actually appreciate)

Re: Urban Runner
Perhaps you don't like the Coktel Visions humor. Another Coktel Visions drama that you might like is Lost in Time.

Re: Urban Runner
Actually, I hated Gobliiins not for the humor but for the (excessive, in my opinion) difficulty. It's true, anyway, that I'm more for drama, and...Collector wrote:Perhaps you don't like the Coktel Visions humor.
I had to decide what to buy and play between this one and Urban Runner. Since the Paris setting entices me (I love Paris!) I decided to go after Urban Runner... If I will like UR, I'll try LiT too!Collector wrote:Another Coktel Visions drama that you might like is Lost in Time.

Re: Urban Runner
Scummvm worked for me after I copied the cd files to the folder, I don't see any dos files in my version so DOSBox wasn't an option, but I had enough mounting when I was working on phantas2 (which was incredibly annoying and took every trick in the book and then some to get running for me) Initially, the game looks similar to phatas2 with the tedious and unskippable movies every time you move, but I have to say it looks like a great B game, I like the giant animated mussel flash on the 9mm that would be a better fit for a .50 caliber.Re: Urban Runner

Re: Urban Runner
This thread is rather old, now. The new installer for the game is now recommended.

Phantasmagoria: A puzzle of Flesh also has a new installers listed on that same page.

Thanks man! That's definitely going to help, I looked around but didn't realize there was a separate installer page, It'd be nice to see a link for it on the help page.
Did you program the installer?

Re: Urban Runner
I wrote all of the installers on the page, though there are links to a couple of installers by others that are not hosted here.

That's incredible! You must have prevented lots of headaches with all of those.
The lighthouse installation program was excellent, thanks again!
