Does anyone here know anything about it? Sounds like they are serious.

Interesting. I would guess that they have been granted a license by Activision.

Hi everyone, on the Phantas IMDb page a comment says "The film lost it's financing".

Was this even related to the game? A lot of times movies come out with the same name as games and I don't think they have anything to do with each other. Like SWAT. Was that based on the Sierra game too?

The stuff on their FB page makes it clear that it is based on the game.
Also, while phantasmagoria is just an English word that could be used for an entirely unrelated movie, the full title of "Phantasmagoria: The Movie" would only be used if it's somehow based on an existing franchise.

I didn't know it actually had "The Movie" in it. I never followed the news much at all I just knew it was being made. It just seems strange to me to make a movie out of a game that probably very little of the current cinema demographic knows anything about. Or gamers, for that matter.

Hollywood remakes everything!
Kidding aside, I think it would have been pretty cool had this seen the light of day. Just like I wouldn't mind a Gabriel Knight movie, after having played GK2 - I thought, "This would make a great movie!" (And after GK3, I was convinced the world needed the Gabriel Knight Trilogy movie!)
