Happy New Year!

Post by AndreaDraco »

Since I doubt that, after dinner and around midnight I'll have even a few minutes left, I want to wish now, to all of you, fellow SHPers...

... A happy, great, enthralling 2009!

Although it doesn't sound like its going to start off that great with the baggage, but I certainly hope it ends up better than 2008 did!

Happy New Year to all!

Happy 7D9, 3731, 11111011001, or MMIX!

Hmm. New Years' Eve was very peaceful here in Australia. I didn't really feel like going out, particularly as I can see the fireworks from the back window of my apartment. So I just stayed home and invited some friends over for a nice relaxed dinner, after which we yakked and drank and watched the spectacular stage version of War of the Worlds 'til the firework show came on. We watched that for a few minutes before returning to our movie, after which we all said our goodbyes. Yes, boring, I know. ;P

So how was your NYE?

We watched the ball drop on TV then listened and watched the loud fireworks outside. Great cheap entertainment. ;)

Fireworks are cheap? *shrug*

Here in Australia, my home town of Melbourne spent $2.34 million on the fireworks display; Sydney outspent us, going to $2.41 million. Yet the world is supposedly suffering one of its direst financial crises since 1929. *shrug* Go figure...

We didn't buy them. We simply watched out our window... where almost every neighbor was cracking them. ;)

Ah, ok. I've never bought fireworks, so I'm not sure how expensive fireworks are individually or for one household. Glad you had fun. ;)

Depending if they're the little spinny-on-the-ground type, they're relatively cheap but if you go for the gusto, they can get pretty pricey.

When I was little, we'd drive up to the mountain and watch the fireworks below throughout the town. Very nice evenings. :)

We have to sneak into Mexico (which is no longer a safe city to sneak into, if you have heard) to get fireworks, as they are illegal in (most areas of) California.
