That was a nice tribute. The music and voice over were a bit corny, but it worked. I think Ken was actually getting a little emotional when he turned the mic over to Roberta.

BTW, they didn't show the trailer/teaser for the new KQ but there is a thread here about it on SHP.

I never thought I'd see the day when an Industry Award honouring Ken and Roberta for pioneering adventure games would be presented by Duke Nukem.

That's where I've heard that voice before! It was bugging me, because I couldn't place it.

I was all kinds of happy when I saw this. These last few years, I've found Sierra games are practically on the tips of tongues of gamers everywhere, and to hear the audience cheering sporadically at the video and seeing Ken and Roberta on-stage gave me the warm fuzzies. It was such a great moment. :)

Ken was ahead of the curve so often that you do have to wonder where he and Sierra might have gone if Sierra had not been pulled out from under him.

Love this tribute! It actually gave me goosebumps the first time I watched a few days ago. :) So many happy memories are connected with playing Sierra games. I'm just so thrilled to see them get the recognistion they deserve, and judging by the cheers from the crowd, are still remembered fodnly by the general gaming audience of today. I also liked the introduction to the tribute as it sounded so familiar to how I first experienced these games myself, only difference being that in my case it was an English-Dutch dictionary, not Hebrew, and my Sierra adventure began with King's Quest IV. :)

This was really nice to see them get recognized by the 'mainstream' gaming crowd! It's too bad that the clip above doesn't have them passing the adventurer's hat on to the new developers- that was quite touching!

How touching. :) Yes, I still remember playing Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island 1. Let's be honest - who hasn't played these two? ;)

Speaking of Ron Gilbert - apparently he's working on a new 2D point-and-click adventure game, called Thimbleweed Park. Has anyone heard about this game at all? I've read through the Kickstarter page. Does anyone know more about this game? Graphics-wise, it looks very pixelly (like MM did, back in the day). ;)

Honestly? Probably millions of gamers, many of whom would consider a game that's a year old to be ancient, let alone titles that were released long before they conceived through a combination of poor decisions and copious amounts of alcohol.

Really? Some people think that a year old game is ancient?!? :roll:

I can still remember Space Invaders from 1978. I played it in 1980, when I was 4 years old. Now that is ancient. ;)
