KQ1: Damn condor! *switches to QfG1, Flame Darts condor*

Heh.
I'm playing KQ1, and have gotten the magic chest and the magic mirror. Now I know that I need to jump up outside the dragon's cave and grab onto the condor's claws, but regardless of what I do, Graham always misses.
Is there a way to grab hold? Do I need to stand in some specific place, or somesuch? Or is Graham just a wimp and can't jump high enough?
Spoilers welcome - I'm beginning to lose my patience with this stupid bird...

Sorry Rath, I don't remember having difficulty catching the dumb bird.
A Levitate spell might come in handy, or a fetch spell while your thinking about it. Roasted Condor does have a certain appeal, though.

Whoops - I forgot to mention that I'm playing the AGDI re-make of KQ1. I'm not sure if that makes a difference? Would it be easier in the Sierra original?

It's one of the annoying parts of KQ1. The right place to stand is marked by two small rocks. I'd recommend turning the speed all the way down to give you more reaction time. Then make sure to click the hand on the condor just before it reaches you (so that by the time it does reach you, you're in the air).

There's a slightly redder mark on the dirt near the cave entrance where you're supposed to jump from.

Thanks adeyke! I managed to grab hold of the Condor... and then remembered that I forgot to get the cheese. D'oh!
Anyway, I went off to push the witch in her cauldron, got the cheese, and became king of Daventry! Huzzah!
Now if only I could Flame Dart that fershlugginer Condor. Hmm... flame-broiled Condor...
Anyway, I noticed that you were one of the beta testers for KQ1, as was someone called "Wolfgang Abenteur"? Wasn't he the Adventurer's Guild-master in QfG1?
MI, I didn't see a redder mark in the dirt near the cave entrance. Where is it? *curious*

I beta-tested all the AGDI games (though not all versions of all of them), and I'm a moderator on their forums. The person with the forum alias Wolfgang Abenteuer was also a beta-tester and moderator.
I believe a red X was the place to stand in a previous version of the remake.

Hmm... well, I've moved on to KQ2 (quite an atmospheric little thriller, isn't it?
), and... I'm stuck again.
I've found the first two stones, and trying to find the third one. I've gotten up to the stage where I need to find
the castle in the swamp.
I know that I need to do the following:
Look at the paper you found at the church. Take the first letters of the poem:
Seeking Not Well Without Night
Sleeping While Sun Shining White
This translates, of course, to
South North West West North; South West South South West.
Unfortunately, I've gotten up to the last direction (west) that I need to go... and there's no way to go west!
There's a large shrub or tree blocking the way, or something that looks equally daft - it's difficult to see in the fog.
I'm probably missing something very simple... may I please have a clue about where I should go?

The best explanation I have is that you started at the wrong place when following the directions. You need to start from the very first screen of the swamp, just east of the screen with the flies buzzing around. People often make the mistake of going south from that screen and then following the directions, but that doesn't work.
Aside from that, just be sure to read the note you have (the poem you get is randomly chosen, so going by memory or a walkthrough might not work) and follow it exactly (don't try take any shortcuts). If you do it correctly, you should end up with a screen with the castle in the background to the north.

Thank you, adeyke! I'll give that a try very soon.

Yay!
Thank you all very much for your help. I have now finished KQ2 as well!
My thoughts on it? The AGDI version is much more grown-up than I would have expected from a KQ game. Caldaur the vampire ending up as ruler of Kolyma is a twist I wouldn't have expected. I wonder how that would affect Daventry's relations with Kolyma now.
On another matter... dratted dwarf!
That dwarf has become a real pain in the posterior. I can't believe how many times I died because of that sneaky thief. *Flame Darts dwarf*
I also think that the portrayal of dwarves in this game is unfair - it's not fair to portray all dwarves as thieves and murderers. This portrayal owes much more to Alberic in the Ring Cycle than it does to The Hobbit and LOTR, naturally. But then I always suspected that Wagner, being an anti-Semite, was an anti-dwarf person too.
The ending, with The Father, is interesting. Who can it be? Could it be
Mahna Mahna Mahahahahahananananan?
Or maybe the evil wizard in KQ5, whose name I forget? And speaking of KQ5... during the snake scene, I always expected Cedric to pop up and go "Look out, Graham! A POIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-SONOUS SNAKE!!!!"
Cedric is an extremely Large Ham.

The Father is a character created by AGDI. It's not an existing character from the KQ franchise.
There's already Cedric easter egg in the KQ2 remake: if you answer the first two questions in the air test perfectly, you get a special option for the third test.

There is? *replays* So there is! But we don't get to see a Shish-ke-Cedric.
Oh well... better luck next time, Graham.
As for KQ3... is it the same, plot-wise, as the original (and therefore, can I follow the walkthrough for the original)? Or are there differences?

In terms of plot, it's pretty much the same. The changes are nowhere near as extreme as KQ2. The biggest change is what happens on the pirate ship.
In terms of gameplay, however, there are many significant changes. A lot of puzzles were reworked to some degree, and several new puzzles were added. If you follow a walkthrough designed for the original, you'll get very confused. There are some written specifically for KQ3 Redux, though.

IA's KQ3 is more of a 1:1 remake.
