So the thread about GK3 + Windows 8(.1) not working - and it being tied to the CDROM thing made me launch GK2...
Which just launches into a blank DOS window.
But if I launch DOSBox on it's own, without the use of the GOG.com installer for GK2, mount a drive, go into the directory for GK2 and launch SIERRA or GK2DOS, it loads fine.

Disregard. I launched the GOG executable and it DID come up. It just took a really long time.

I fixed GK2 for them shortly after their first release of the game (God was it a mess), but I have not looked at their latest. I don't know if they have messed with the configuration since. What cycles is it set at?

Will check when I get home. Once it loads it seems fine; but it literally sits on the black screen for about 30 to 40 seconds before the Sierra logo comes up with a notice about some GK Project also (that's not in the original).Collector wrote:I fixed GK2 for them shortly after their first release of the game (God was it a mess), but I have not looked at their latest. That is because the GOG release is originally based on Endroz's installer, which installs the Win16 version. GOG did a piss poor job hacking the DOS files back into the game to run it in DOSBox. I created a patch to correct all of the mistakes that GOG made and they used it without credit or reference to me. After that they just used my installers for the other multi disc SCI games.Tawmis wrote:Collector wrote:the Sierra logo comes up with a notice about some GK Project also (that's not in the original).

They never updated it from DOSBox 0.73?

Go ahead and drop 0.74 in the DOSBox folder to replace the 0.73.
