User "nighthalk" of the SquirtTheCat forums has created updated fixes for Shivers 2 that allows for full install fro CD-less play. I have incorporated these in a new SHP installer. Here is the first release.
I would appreciate an feed back anyone might have.

Nice! Will take a look at it as soon as I'm through with Broken Sword 3.

Just installed it and played a bit in it. Seems to be running fine so far!

I had a bit of weirdness:
At some point I had to choose my enemy, and I wanted to see what happens if you choose the wrong one, so after I chose I loaded the savegame. (I make a savegame just before I pick up the bahos). And after the savegame I didn't get the ghost asking about the enemy anymore.
I may have loaded the game where I chose, since things got a bit muddled.

Since then I found all 12 bahos and put them all in the kiva. I progress and progress and am at the point with the disk swap -
and the game prompts, probably the change disk note, with the popup screen, all green, can't read text in it, clicking OK doesn't work. I tried out the shortcut that change disks when you play with ISO's, didn't help. Eventually I had to restart the computer.

Man I'd hoped I could finish it again... hoping I don't ever have to go to that cemetery again.

Should have been in the installer, but maybe it go over written. Drop the attachment in the DLL folder just in case.

As to the save game I am not sure that it it might have something to do with the way jafa altered it to save games in the user folder. I think that nighthalk started from jafa's exe, so it has the same behavior.

There was a DLL of that name in the directory, but I overwrote it. It still asked for the CD but at least the OK thing went away when I clicked it and I could finish it.

Which I did.

One thing though - isn't there supposed to be an Explore mode after you're done? I couldn't find it!

Do you have the save game where it was asking for the disc? I can try to get it to nighthalk if he wants try to do something about it.

I don't remember about an explore mode.

The manual mentions an Explore mode:
"Congratulations! When you've gotten to the end of the game and you've won, you can "Quit", "Start a new game" or "Explore". The "Explore" option lets you look around without getting attacked. This is your chance to take a closer look at some of those cool details that you may have avoided earlier. For some (we promise not to call you wimps) this is their favourite part of the game. Providing you can get this far, of course..."
I am now having a good dig in the files, so far I found a weird picture of the computer at the bank with a picture of a dog on it - there's also buttons for the Explore mode.

I'd love to post a savegame but I can't find where they're stored...

The saves are in Just copy this and paste it in the run box or the search box.

Okay, I hope this is the file called Max...

While searching I noticed there are sound files of the Spirit character saying stuff like "please register at the Cyclone motel" upon saving, and other such lines. Much like in the original Shivers. I didn't hear any lines like that.
