It may have been a ghastly year for music, the year that Toots Thielemans, Pierre Boulez, Peter Maxwell Davies and Zoltán Kocsis departed, but it's the year in which I've found my boyfriend, making this a fantastic year for me!

2016 has certainly shaken everyone up to some degree. Whether it was the election results, celebrity passings, the accelerated rise in feminism, Syria, Orlando/Baton Rouge/Paris/Brussels etc attacks, to name a few. Even the flood here in Baton Rouge in August was a big wake up call to many. I feel that for the first time, in a very long time, we as a country have a very clear understanding of where we stand in our beliefs. 2016 has brought a lot of our fears up to the surface and 2017 will allow us to smooth out the wrinkles.

Does anyone have any new years resolutions? Or goals for this year?

My three:
- get awesome at acro yoga (and silks too)
- learn how to rock climb
- get certified in becoming a doula

My New Year's Resolution is pretty simple. Since New Year's Resolutions tend to get broken sooner or later, I resolve not to be awesome.

So if I meet this resolution, at least I haven't lost anything. But if I don't...

I just went with two...

- Lose some weight and try to get healthy this year
- Write more.

Losing weight and getting into shape. It's been pretty much my resolution forever, but now that I have a sweetheart I at last have a good reason to do pushups and deny myself chocolate. Been sticking to that nicely so far.

I am officially beginning my resolutions next week - because this week was still a holiday, so I knew it'd be difficult.
