Gee, I... wonder where they got the name for that?

Wonder what Larry Laffer would have to say? ;)

This looks like the third remake of the first game.

I still can't wrap my head around why they keep wanting to go back to Lost Wages. You could easily reboot the series from almost any other entry. I'd rather play a spy-oriented LSL2 remake, or anything set in the tropics. Or they could start a new series in a different city like Paris or Venice. Or bring back Patti even? Right now, all I see is a screenshot of Lefty's Bar and I suddenly know what we're in for again. Hopefully I'm wrong, but the last 20 years hasn't been good to Larry.

My thoughts exactly. A smart company would make a new Leisure Suit Larry game that becomes LSLIV. Because that's an opening that's just waiting to be explored. What happened between Larry and Patti?
Seems like there's plenty of opportunity to "mock" Larry in the similar LSL fashion.

In it, you could even have him need money (maybe to catch a flight to chase Patti, who during LSLIV is brought on as a spy) - and he does indeed go back to Lost Wages to earn some money. Discovers she's currently n Nontoonyt on a mission (so we fly there, and get to see some of LSL2 in the process) or something like that. I'd like to see a game that kind of goes over several different familiar properties of the LSL world, without being a remake of it.

Which may be the case here - maybe they're just using the Lost Wages screen because it's familiar...

But without Al Lowe, I don't have much faith they'll get the humor right.

It's not a remake, apparently. The events of LSL1 are something that's acknowledged as being in Larry's past.

One of the developers has been speaking up about it in this twitter thread.

It sounds like they're aware of Larry inherent problems, but instead of create a "Social Justice Larry", they want to create a world that reacts to Larry's sexism.

Again, I feel like this is a very hard line to walk and still keep it fun. It's good that they're setting personal boundaries, but I've seen games try to take the high road before and still end up inappropriately offensive. I'll be pleasantly surprised and eat crow if they can pull it off. I admire that they're up for the challenge.

Well, it's bound to offend a lot of people... regardless, really. People today have extremes when it comes to points of view. Especially on the internet, where they can be as ... insane passionate... as they want to be, without fear of anyone knowing who they are.

I find it highly fascinating and admirable that 90s Christians were so ahead of their time in their derision of the series...

Same goes with Duke Nukem.

Interesting. I wonder why they updated the graphics for everything except the picture over Lefty's bar?

I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope they do a good job.
Maybe this too? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D4:_Dark_ ... on%27t_Die

As an aside, Tawmis - wow. I looked at your picture dressed up as Larry again, and that picture in the Sierra manual... and...

I remember seeing that picture! :D

At the time, I remember thinking "Gee, that's clever!" But, of course, I had no idea who it was.

 Who knew that millions of years later, I'd still be a Sierra-fanatic and a lover of Larry!

Wait... that last part didn't sound right...

I think it's a homage to the original.
In that twitter feed from Maurice, he talks about being a fan of the original. So it's kind of like, they're way of doing a homage, and logically think, "It's a piece of art over Lefty's Bar." So it can logically look the way it does. (I mean, look at Picaso's art... I get he's SUPER famous... but to me, I've seen 2nd grade children produce equal or better...) ;)

It is just acknowledging all of the pubescent teen boys of the '80s drooling over pixilated boobies.
