Maybe I already knew this...?

Caught in your own cuffs? Need a hint? Or just want to talk about Police Quest - this is the place to do it!

Maybe I already knew this...?

Post by Tawmis »

... and I forgot, because I am old, senile, and my brain can only store so much data?

But today, I am scrolling through my Facebook feed, and there's a photo of Jim Walls with his kids, and doing the "Happy Father's Day" thing - and I notice that the one who tagged Jim looks JUST like him - just younger, and balder - and his name?

Sonny Walls.

As in, what I can ... safely?... assume is Jim's son?

Now Facebook says he is from Coarsegold, CA - and still lives in - Oakhurst, CA.

His birthday is before mine - so he was born before Police Quest came out.

It's safe to assume then, I think, that Jim named our hero after his son.

Hmm, interesting. Yes, pretty safe to say that!

Where did "Bonds" come from, then? I always thought it was a reference to James Bond. ;)

I assume that's where it comes from too - a play on James Bond. But Sonny Bond doesn't roll off the tongue - seems like it halts. Sonny Bonds however, rolls nicely.

Bond has legal/justice/police implications. "His word is his bond", bail bondsman, bonded, post bond, etc. I very much doubt it was of any reference to the fictional spy.

Yep, that's right! :)

It's certainly more relevant than the financial kind of bonds (as in stocks and bonds, etc.)
