King's Quest v1.0U for DOS

Post by DoutorHouse »

Hello everyone!
I'm new here and I hope i'm not breaking any rules but i was wondering if anyone has a copy of this version of King's Quest for DOS (1.0U). I belive it's the first version for DOS that wasn't a booter. I had it some years ago along with a backup of my sierra and lucasarts stuff but i can't seem to find it anymore. Thank you so much for any help on this!
Cheers!

There may be a couple here, but I doubt that they would be willing to sell their copy.

I had it originally - on a 5.25" disk. However, that box (and that disk) were lost in one of my many moves, sadly. My first exposure was Leisure Suit Larry 1 EGA (fitting to be exposed!) and King's Quest 1 on that bootable disk - and remember it being 4 colors and painfully slow to render - pushing my poor Tandy 1000SX 7.0 Turbo to the limit! :D My Leisure Suit Larry 1 survived - but the box has taken some hits, and taped together with clear tape to hold that bad boy together in some places!

Thank you for your answers! I actually managed to find an old dvd-r i had made with a bunch of backup files and retrieved my files again. While browsing the forum i believe i saw some reference to a digital archive of sierra stuff? Does that exist? Thanks again!

It certainly does exist. Head to the home page and you'll find technical help, clues for games, and all manner of other goodies (like music from the games, cheats, and more).

Welcome to the forum. :)

Thank you! I actually had used some of the custom installers before but had no idea they originated from here or who had created them! :)

I need to double check by checking out an installer - but if it's not in there @Collector needs to advertise SHP more - so he's getting the proper credit.
