All right, I know this has nothing to do with the forum, but I really need to say it...

I got a job!

Yes, after months and months of applying and calling and emails and interviews and frustrations and so on, I finally got a new job! I'm starting new Tuesday, because they'll spend the next two days setting me up, and then Monday is a public holiday.

Yay! I'm so happy, I could burst!

(But I won't burst all over the forum. 'Cos that would be ... messy.)

Sir, this is General Chatter - we're all about sharing stuff about our lives here - so it fits perfectly!

Nice Rath!! How is it going so far? Did you start yet?

I started 3 days ago. Tomorrow will be the end of my first week. The work is AR (accounts receivable).

Overall, I really like it. There's lots to learn, of course - it's a new industry to me (aged care), and there's new software and things to learn. OTOH, I have lots of experience in AR - over 11 years - so that helps a lot!

But I've been trying to get some experience in aged care for years. So that's good. So far I've been learning things like how to process new people into homes and how to discharge them, creating invoices for them, and processing payments. Pretty simple things, but since I'm new to the industry, obviously I need to know them.

It's a 6-month contract to start with, plus potential for permanency. Hopefully they like me enough to let me stay.
