Cyberstorm series - discussion

I've created this topic to share my big passion to first game in the series - Missionforce: Cyberstorm.
It was magnificent experience. Game itself seems to have plenty of interesting mechanics (state of shields from every side of our HERCs, weapons dedicated to destroy shields OR the armor OR both, but with some limits; improving targeting systems, using height of terrain... and many others), yet it's surprisingly intuitive - I couldn't get to work included help file due to some ancient format, and yet I've caught almost everything on my own.
By some reason I was quickly caught by greedy attitude of Unitech corporation, since I was gathering with devotion every single piece of ore in all mining levels (which were criticised for being repetetive and long, I can understand it).
Missions with destroying Cybrid HQs were probably one of the hardest experience I ever had in turn-based strategy/tactic games. But also extremely satisfactory.
While weapons variety is a nice element of the game, I feel that various HERC models and Bioderms are not sharing the same "diversity". Bioderms are generally "worse" or "better", you'll probably end eventually with eradicating those bought in earlier parts of the game. Similar thing with HERC models - you totally need the heaviest HERCs to survive massive fire of Cybrids in later levels, so aside from one or two scout units, most of your fleet will contain heaviest HERC models.
Game have also multiplayer (both online and hot-seat - last one in patched version), really have hope that one day I'll find someone to play with in this game*.

I totally recommend to grab used copy and use Matt Jernigan's modification to make it run without issues on modern systems:

Shortly after finishing first Cyberstorm I've rushed to play in sequel... But so far my experience is rather bad. Influence of weapons seems to be random (or I don't get it), game also seems to be rather slow-paced with strict limits of vehicles per mission (at least for beginning). Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but so far I don't like it too much.
