Did anyone ever play Dark Castle? I was thinking about the game... trying to remember the name... had Castlevania stuck in my head, but I knew that wasn't it...
My best friend at the time, Shawn, and I used to play it on the High School Mac (we were in Journalism and often spent late nights, playing the game at school)... googled, "Black and white side scroll castle" - and sure enough found what I was looking for.
The Youtube video did not disappoint. Brought back tons of memories.
Not a great game, but I have a lot of memories tied to it.

I'd never played it on PC, only the Mac. So I don't know how the PC version ranked in regards to playing it on the Mac.

Found a good Mac emulator version of it... and it was disastrous.

Oh dear. I like the very strange sound effects. "Squeak! Squeak!" Bats. "Ooh!" Guy with whip.
Then again, it was 1986. I remember playing "Dr J vs. Larry Bird" on the Commodore 64 back then.

I sort of miss these silly sounds effects. If I could somehow get the sound bites from these games, I'd love it!

Was cleaning up all my bookmarks and found the Dark Castle link.
Good gravy - this game kills me.
Literally.

I remember playing that on an Apple II. Games like that definitely fared better on consoles, whereas adventure games and simulators were better on computers.
