Summer Daze - Black Screen

Well, now that I have finished GK2 ... I'm downloading it to try now!
Will be back later to share my thoughts ... very excited! I'm as excited as pastry lover who thought the cat had done its business on his muffin but it turned out to be an extra-large blackberry.
****** EDIT ******
Well, poot.
I downloaded it, installed it, ran it ... and got a blank, black screen that didn't go anywhere. Nor could I alt+tab back to Windows and shut it down. So after waiting for two-three minutes with nothing happening, I did a hard reboot.
Of course I'm disappointed, but ... oh, well. *shrug* Things happen ...

That sucks. I haven't even tried the demo myself. Maybe leave a comment on the Kickstarter comments page and they can get you some tips?

If it happens, try Control Alt Delete - to bring up the Task Manager - see if that opens. Then force shut it down.

Er, do you mean
here, MI? It tells me that only backers may leave comments. What is a "backer"?
Sorry, I'm new to Kickstarter, so I don't know.

Yeah, that's the first thing I tried. It doesn't do anything.
As I said, all I get is a blank screen. No splash screen - nothing. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't do anything. So I had no choice but to do a hard reset.

Hmm. I don't know how to email them, and I don't use Discord. Where would I find their email? I looked on their website and can't find it.
Yes, I certainly do own Rogue. I like it very much, and I never had any trouble playing it. (I got it through Steam - maybe that's why?)

There's a Contact Us email web form on their website.

Thanks, MI. I just tried Summer Daze again and nothing happened, so I sent Lori and Corey a message on their website. Hopefully I get a reply ... fingers crossed.

Moved this into it's own thread - in the event a solution is found - it will be an easy way to find the thread again (with the new subject header) for anyone else who might have a similar issue.

Thanks, Tawm.
So far, the Coles simply asked me for my system info because they've never encountered this situation before. I supplied it. Fingers crossed.

Out of curiosity; have you updated the graphic card drivers?

Always something worth trying when a game doesn't work.

Hmm ... I checked, and Device Manager tells me that my graphics drivers are up-to-date. (Besides, I can run a game as graphically complex as Skyrim, so Summer Daze shouldn't be a problem...)

It's got nothing to do with graphic complexity. Summer Daze is a newer game than Skyrim.

Do not trust your Windows Device Manager.
Go into the properties of your drivers. See what version/date it shows.
Then go to the manufacturer's site - and search for your type of drivers on the site and see if there's a newer one available for download.

Ah! It's been far too long since I updated my drivers myself, but now that I tried doing it again, I found there was nothing to it.
Yes, I found that my graphics driver was last installed in 2016 (and was about 2 years out of date - the most recent driver for my card is from 2018). Downloading now, will install.
Incidentally, if my driver is so out-of-date, why was Windows Device Manager telling me that my card was all right? False positives like that are worrying ...
********UPDATE*********
Welp, there goes a frustrating hour. I updated my drivers, restarted my computer, re-downloaded the demo, unzipped it, ran it, and .......... nothing, nada, zip, zip-ola, scratch. Just a black screen, and no way back to Win-doze except doing a(nother) hard reboot.
Oh, well ...
I was surprised, though, that after opening the zip file, it allowed me to place the game files anywhere I wanted. (I created a "Demo" folder under the default "Downloads" folder, just to make it easy to find the files again). I thought that, perhaps, there would be an installer of some kind? *shrug*
