Recorded (several) days worth of Johnny Castaway and made it a play list... So if you miss Johnny's antics, here there are.

(At the time of this posting, one of the videos is still processing and shows up as "Deleted Video" - but it happens to be the largest in file size so it's taking awhile)

Ha ha, thanks for this, Tawmis. If I ran a bar or night club, at least one TV would have this on loop.

Hah! I plan on capturing even more. And just having one massive long play list of Johnny Castaway.

 Collector's image... that's how today's events would be for sure. :?

Er ... I was in my teens when Johnny Castaway was released (1992, yes)? I'd never seen it. What's the story?

It's a randomized screen saver by Sierra for Win 3.x/95. It was always interesting to see Johnny in a new situation. Amusing and fascinating screen saver with a cult following.

That!

I was highly addicted to watching the screen saver.

And believe it or not, despite the random antics, there is a "story" behind it too.

We don't know how Johnny originally got stuck on said island.

However, as the days progress, he builds a raft to get off of the island.
During this time (and it's all random - all of it!), he meets a mermaid.
He and the mermaid end up having a date on an island.
He throws a bottle out into the ocean with a message that says "S.O.S." (he does this frequently)
The bottle gets found by a woman, who dreams of a gorgeous hunk.
When Johnny is almost done, the mermaid shows up to ask what's up with the raft.
Johnny is about to leave, when the mermaid (and shark, who harasses him throughout) show up to say farewell.
Johnny makes it back to civilization and lands at the beach with the woman who found the S.O.S. note
Johnny ends up doing a 9 to 5
He dreams about the island and the mermaid
And ends with him parachuting back down to the island.

I never saw near enough of them when I first discovered it and when it stopped working with Windows to get that kind of idea of a linear story. That's so cool!

Did a quick scan - (the other stuff is buried in there, but these I was able to locate through preview scan)

Johnny meets the mermaid and asks her on a date:

The mermaid asks about the raft:

That was a magic palm tree, of course. Johnny gets a lot of things from behind that tree - a rubber boot to roast over his fire, a track suit ... ;)

And, of course they cut to black when Johnny was bathing in the sea and the bird stole his pants. (That always happens).

But why does the "Johnny building his raft" sound more like a "Johnny fires a futuristic gun! Pew, pew, pew!" sound? ;)
