I'm not sure how your clues fit, but it's the only thing left that Robin can interact with (except the fire, which IS like a hungry beast, but I don't think Robin can fill the fire).

Fill me before you depart, but weary never be too kind of heart - is a reference to when I played Conquest of Camelot and because I was too nice to the people I met by giving too much coin, I ended up dead-ended in the game! (Which I doubt can happen in Longbow, since you can return to the cave, unlike Camelot, when you leave - you can't return until you complete all the quests so you can dead-end in Camelot).
