Ken Williams himself weighed in...!
Ken Williams wrote: Ok .. my reaction ... I thought it was impressive that she played all the games, and I support the rankings. That said, I’d caution that a deliberate part of my strategy was to avoid competing with ourselves by building different series for different people. Each series had a specific target audience. People outside the targeted demographic “might” like a game, but they might not. The buyer for Laura Bow is not the buyer for Mickey’s Space Adventure or Leisure suit Larry. Reading the list I could sense the personality of the reviewer. It was the correct list for her. That doesn’t mean it is the correct list for you or me. A ranking list makes sense when all of the products are similar. For instance, “which is the best $300 color tv?” But if you loosen the list to include $2,000 refrigerators and $300 TVs, and then rank them by which is best, the list becomes less indicative of what you might think. Anyway, I don’t want to disparage the list. I thought it was amazing that someone went to that much work, and Roberta and I had a fun dinner reading the comments. Some we agreed with, some we didn’t, but it was a fun and entertaining exercise. A lot of good info there!
Looking at that list, mine is for sure quite different. Before I weigh in - figured I'd see if others were interested in listing theirs?

I think it's just great that SQ4 placed above KQ6. :D

Ken’s absolutely right that this is “her” list, and should not speak for everyone. And he’s spot on about the target audiences differing. A lot of writers nowadays take the “my opinions are facts” angle in their pieces, and she veers close to that territory here at times.

That said, I do happen to see eye-to-eye with many of her assessments, and was pleasantly surprised to see LB2 and KQ7 rank so high.
