Quest for Glory 5 Movies Fail to Play

I have recently begun replaying old Sierra titles, and I just installed QG5 on my system (Windows Vista Home Premium). The game seems to start up fine, but all of the movies are simply passed over. I have Quicktime 7 on my system, and the installed movies play just fine if I start them directly from Windows. But when, for instance, I click on the "Introduction" tab from the QG5 Main menu, I am asked to put in the CD, and then simply taken back to the Main screen. The Sierra F/X and Yosemite Ent. movies also do not play when I begin the game. I have installed both patches for the game, and run in Windows 95 compatability (visual themes disabled). Any suggestions?

Many have found that downgrading to the version of Quicktime that shipped with the game fixes issues with this game.

I have the exact same problem, but downgrading back to Quicktime 3.0.2 crashes the game whenever I hit the Introduction button "QFG5 has encountered a problem and needs to close". Basically, I can run the game itself in Win 95 compatibility mode, but Quicktime 3.0.2 will not. Is there any way at all to get the videos to work then on XP?

There doesn't seem to be any one sure fire solution for this game. I had QfG5 crash on the opening movie and suddenly start working so much later that I couldn't say what had changed about my PC. You can try experimenting with different versions of QuickTime. Also, update your graphics card drivers.

I wanted to let you know that the fix I mentioned elsewhere still works for me.
Go into "Quicktime Preferences" and click the audio tab and check the box that says "Safe Mode (waveOut only)"
Then click the Advanced Tab and click the circle that says "Safe Mode (GDI only)"
However, alot of people seem to be having trouble doing that with the latest version of Quicktime. Including me. Whenever I select those settings and click Apply, it seems to save, but then when I close out and come back in, its back to its default settings. This has become a common problem if you look around. For me, version 7.3.1 of Quicktime is the most stable, bug free release to play Quest for Glory 5 with. Just letting you know.

So i just played through four and 7/8ths of the games... but the fifth game messes up when Minos kills himself. The screen goes black as if it is loading the movie then suddenly
1) Game comes back, the part of the screen you're character can interact in (so excluding the bottom bar, compass etc.) is black
2) I cannot move, interact, or click on any buttons except i can right click to change to the view cursor...which then can't click to look at anything
3)i can hit the Esc key and bring up the options menu, can even read the in game manual. When i go back into the play screen the whole screen is back but i am still unable to do anything besides right click.
4) If i alt + tab and come back in my cursor is the hourglass as if its trying to do something (waiting doesn't accomplish anything, i left it on earlier today and while time passes in game it doesn't mean anything)
I'm running xp, the game is fully patched including the risingsun xp patch, and i am running the game in compatibility mode 2000 (and tried several others) with visual themes disabled.
I have tried the game with quicktime from the disk, as well as the newest versions... the quicktime 3.0 doesn't work at all and causes a crash, the newest version i tried safe mode wave out and GDI only and had the same problem of being stuck and unable to do anything but right click.
I have also tried lowering the audio hardware acceleration on my computer to basic.
beyond frustrated and since i can't save after Minos's little speech and since you can skip his talking i have memorized exactly what he says having to listen to him so many times (truthfully i probably could have told you before
)
Any other suggestions please

I am having the same issue as Isakiel, pretty much word for word.
Collector - I tried using that installer, and the game wouldn't work at all afterwards.

Do a clean install.
