I'll have to take some time to go through the other games but for Police Quest:
I needed a break from work (it's been a long week...) - so I just scribbled this idea down to see if there was some conversation that could come of it.
So no rush!

PQ1 (EGA)
Good: Nice progression of day-to-day police work from writing a ticket to first arrest to getting involved in the main plot.
Bad: The poker game can be tedious. It relies pretty much on luck.
Agreed on the Poker Game (same thing with LSL1). Although for me, the driving was the most atrocious part of PQ1.
One thing I did like is doing things by the book - like looking up the various call codes and procedures - truly made it feel like a police game. Needing to read them their rights, not just pulling them over and arresting them (I mean, you can but it won't go well... but a lot of games in a similar type don't go for that kind of detail... I thought it was great!)

PQ1 (VGA)
Good: The driving is simplified and easier than the original.
Bad: Some unnecessary changes to some of the characters. The bartender for example. This ends up contradicting some plot points in PQ2.
Been awhile since I played the PQ1 remake (is that SCI not VGA, Collector?
)...
I don't remember the changes... so I am eager to get to these remakes eventually for my channel.

PQ2
Good: The procedures for investigating Bains are handled pretty well.
Bad: Some odd plot holes. How did Bains manage to get everything done in such a short amount of time? How did he kidnap Marie and get her to Steelton?
I loved PQ2 for Bains, because it felt like an 80s movie. You really got a feel for Bains as a villain and a genuine bad guy.

PQ3
Good: I still have some reservations about the cult thing, but the plot is pretty good and there is a nice progression in the investigation.
Bad: The driving. The driving. The driving. Especially the first time playing.
I think the cult thing was because in the 80s... cults were all over the place... on the news like crazy.

PQ4
Good: The realism of the investigation. Like the conversation with the medical examiner.
Bad: The "urban" dialog was cringe the first time I played it and hasn't gotten any better.
To be fair, while the urban dialog may seem cringe... in the 80s/90s, there were certainly folks who spoke that way.
It'd be like writing something in California and having someone speak like: "Like there I was and like six guys like came up to me and were like give me your money - and I was like, I don't have a lot of money but like you can have it if it like makes you feel better."
Because, let me tell you, like a lot of people, like in my school, like totally like talked like that in the 80s.
