We all like the Adventure genre or we wouldn't be here. However, many of us like games that aren't Adventures. So I was wondering which games -- PC or console -- everyone likes. You can list an entire series if you wish.

I'm keeping the list to ten games, so we don't end up with a "DPX-sized post."

As to what an Adventure game is blurs (and I think we even had that discussion here?) -

So... making my best attempt:

1. STAR TRAIL - Best RPG ever. (So by Adventure game, I assume you mean classics like LSL, KQ, etc)

2. WIZARDRY 8 - Was fun because even the wife played it.

3. MASS EFFECT (XBOX 360) - Just a beautiful game.

4. JADE EMPIRE (XBOX) - Much like Mass Effect. Just done so well. Once I got into it again.

5. TOEJAM AND EARL 1 & 3 (Sega & XBOX360 respectively, though TJ&E1 & 2 are available on the download for the Wii - check it out!)

6. GEARS OF WAR 1 (XBOX360) - Mostly because of the Co-Op.

7. GEARS OF WAR 2 (XBOX360) - Mostly for the improved Co-Op and Horde Mode.

8. The rest of the REALMS OF ARKANIA series (Blade of Destiny & Shadows Over Riva)

9. The rest of the WIZARDRY series.

10. TOEJAM & EARL 2.

I am sure that list isn't very accurate as it was all pretty much off the top of my head without much thought.

Yeah, I do. Basically any game that primarily bills itself as an Adventure Game (even if there are other non-adventure elements within it). In other words, QFG counts as an Adventure Game for the purpose of this thread, even though it has a lot in common with the RPG genre.

1 MineSweeper. Ahhh... the days... I used to spend hours on that, just pop in your favourite CD and play!

2 Bicycle Card Games. Lets you choose your own music. Unfortunately AIs on card games aren't usually very good (depends on the game of course), but this one has a very strong Cribbage, and it has Spite & Malice.

3 Clyde's Adventure. Old childhood favourite little puzzle platformer.

4 AlleyCat.

5 Prince Of Persia. Never got past level 8 with that lingering guard, but it has such awesome level design...

6 Tetris in any form.

7 Hot Death UNO. Particularly nasty and politically incorrect variety on UNO. Thanks to the huge card deck and extra cards, I've managed to force 69 cards to an opponent.

8 Local Area Dungeon. Shareware download on my site. HUGE strategy/adventure type of game that took me 6 years to finish.

9 Donald Duck Quack Attack. Cute platformer with one mighty difficult level boss (Magica De Spell), starring one of my favourite heroes. Beautiful graphics and cheerful tunes.

10 DeathTrap Dungeon. Worth playing alone to watch the hilarious sound settings screen. Not my kind of game, really, but I've played this many times for the startup video and trying to get through the first level, which I never managed without cheating.

I'm not sure if I even have ten favorite non-adventure games, but let me see here...

Inner Worlds: A game I just recently discovered. A classic side-scroller where you play a very good-looking female werewolf that is somewhat unusual in that she turns into an actual wolf. Not a bipedal, hairy thing with huge claws, a digitigrade stance and a wolf's head , but an actual wolf. What makes this game especially remarkable was that it was made by a an Internet-based team, and it came out in 1996.
The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain: One of my all-time favorite non-adventure Sierra games. Love the graphics, love the voices, love the puzzles.
Time Warp of Dr. Brain: The sequel to the previous game. Not as dear to my heart as its predecessor, but still lots of fun for me, even though both are technically kids' games.
The Lion King: The side-scroller based on the film. I've played this so much I could probably solve it with my eyes closed, but I still love it.
Impressive Title: An amateur online game originally made as a birthday present that soon evolved into a startlingly large phenomenon. You can create and design your own big cat character and explore various worlds, communicate with other players and hunt prey. It's pretty simple as far as multiplayer games go, but I like it.
Hoyle 3: Sierra's third Hoyle game. When I want to play a game that has Roger Wilco or King Graham in it but don't have the time or energy to sit down and play an adventure game, playing Pachisi with both of them is a good compromise.

...And that's six. Darn.

Akril, I'm with you. I have eight and that's even stretching it.

Back in the day when I actually had time for games... (in no particular order)

Backgammon - I think it was included with the KQ collection? Graham made the funniest faces.

Snood - It's been a LONG time since this has been played. High school, I think. You shoot colored snoods at groups of colored snoods to break away the wall of snoods.

Motorcross Madness - I think this is what it was called. It came free with our new Packard Bell back in '96 I think. All it is, is driving a motorbike in a huge neverending landscape and seeing how high you can jump and do tricks.

Just Grandma and Me - Okay, this was really a game for my little sister. It's an interactive storybook with Little Critter. Some of you may remember the books. It's an old memory that I have with my sisters growing up. We still joke about some of the scenes to this day.

King's Questions - I believe this came with the KQ collection as well. Haven't played it in a while though.

Nine Men's Morris - Haven't played this since last playing Conquest's of the Longbow

Mancala - Even though it's a board game, you can play it in Quest for Glory 3, although it has a different name, which I forgot.

Oh, and can't forget Popcorn! - My very own game creation. Well, just the art at least.

10. Super Mario Kart: But only with 2 players. Tradition.
9. Kingdom Hearts: A game that pleasantly caters to my Disney/Square addictions.
8. God of War 1+2: I'm still riding the high from beating the second game on "Titan Mode" last Tuesday. And still reliving it in my nightmares (roll,roll,circle,R2,RAGE OF THE TITANS!!!,Triangle,Triangle,L2,kick the dog,repeat)
7. The Lion King: My aunt used to call me up for hints on this game all the time. Maul Attack rocks!
6. Earthworm Jim: I owned it on PC, Genesis, and Game Gear. I was that hardcore.
5. Double Dragon: Sega Master System version only. My family would crowd around this game for hours when we first got our console.
4. Psychonauts: M.C. Esher in video game form. It's fantastic and has telekinetic bears. It WILL warp your sense of reality - do not play before bed.
3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: I can totally get Super Sonic by the end of the Emerald Hill Zone. Where were achievements back then? I feel like I earned bragging rights with that one.
2. Final Fantasy VIII: This game is the whole reason I'm a game animator.
1. ChronoTrigger: By and far, still a perfect game. I was even looking for it on DS earlier today.

Honorable mentions to: Portal, Mass Effect, Donkey Kong Country 2, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, GTA: San Andreas, and Minesweeper

Are you guys talking about this particular The Lion King? The one where you had to jump over the rocks in the stampede? If so, I'll have to add that one to my list! My favorite level was Willow Cascade(??), although the log hopping up the waterfall was a little tricky.

Aladdin and Pocahontas were good ones too.

I never played The Lion King, but I did play Aladdin. I really enjoyed that game. I also remember reading that the Genesis version was a lot better than the SNES rendition. I'm not sure why, but then again, some games just lent themselves better to certain consoles, despite how similar the Genesis and SNES were.

I also remember reading that while the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat was better than the SNES, the reverse was true of Mortal Kombat II. I never saw much of a difference between Genesis and SNES versions of the same game. The SNES did have Mode 7 graphics and the Super FX chip, so that was a nice touch. Sometimes it was a little overdone, but in games like Starfox it worked well.

For me this is really difficult, since I mostly play adventures, so I'll post only a Top 5:

Oblivion is actually the game I played more. I still play it nowadays and now I'm over 300 hours of playing

Aw! I played those too! Except for Pocahontas, seeing the movie was bad enough. I don't think I got past the Pridelands hyena very often, had no idea what to do there. Aladdin was neat too.

Willow Cascade? That sounds like a Pocahontas level. I think the one you're talking about is the "Hakuna Matata" level. "The Lion King" had an insane difficulty curve even on easy mode, but it was one of those hard games you'd keep returning to just because of how fun it was.

Aladdin, Ducktales, and Mickey-Mania were great ones too. Disney made some quality games back in the day. Although the only thing I remember about Pocahontas was how mind-bogglingly easy it was since I beat the whole game on the first try.

My brother loved DuckTales for the NES (almost as much as Mega Man 2).

Probably the worst Disney game was Mickey Mousecapade on the NES. The entire game made no sense and worst of all, you had to control both Mickey and Minnie -- at the same time! Minnie couldn't do anything, so she tagged along and in general, got Mickey (you) killed in the process.
