Can't play QFG5 after installing the patch

Could anybody help me please? I am trying to play Quest for Glory 5 and it seems to work, but after I have installed the patch (either the 1.1 or the 1.2 version), I just can't go further than the main menu - the game crashes after I click on "play" on the character creation screen. It happens even in the Windows 95 compatibility mode. I wouldn't like to start the game without having patched it first, because I don't want to go through the same experience I had in Quest for Glory 4 with all those multiple bugs. I also can't import my character from the previous games if the game isn't patched.

Did you apply the Win2k patch?

I have just been told that I needed to delete the QGM folder to make it work, and in fact it did. Sorry for starting the topic for nothing, but I have been told how to solve this problem only after posting. But maybe if someone else has the same problem, he/she can read this topic now to solve it.
I just hope there won't be any further bugs.
