Roger Wilco never made it to the competition at all :(, but vote for Guybrush Threepwood for greatest video game hero of all time!

Yeah it's just a giant poll but who cares. Won't hurt to vote :).

Voted this morning on those characters i know. Amazing that Kate Archer is losing against some cartoony kiddy game for the Xbox or sumethin'. Nice to see Crash Bandicoot being wooped though. Continuing the wrong franchises, Activision?

There's a lot of characters missing though...

Bah! Losing to Wander? Wander shouldn't even be on there! He's just Link without a hat! This thing is rigged! 52% of the voters are 13 years old!

It'll probably all come down to either Mario, Cloud, or Master Chief again anyway.

I think Gamespot is actually pretty biased about this competition. If they did any research at all into the character or the Monkey Island games they wouldn't have made so many mistakes in his biography or made him out to look like such a pathetic "hero." Also, that must be the worst possible picture they could have used for him.

And if you read the comments, a lot of them voted for Wander just because "shadow of the colosus iz dah greetest gam evveerrrr!!!"

But yeah - Gamespot just gave Guybrush one of the worst bios ever. And Manny won't have it any easier against that Dante fellow. Come on! He's the Grim Reaper and he has a gun! By all rules of logic, that places him above everything.

Any poll that awards Pikachu a win, in any shape or form, is not worth voting in.

Why is Gamespot still relevant?

Right on! We should set up a poll like that :-)

Polls are now enabled in the Misc forum.

Hey, give Pikachu some credit. He's a mentally-handicapped bipolar rat monster that shoots lightning out of his face. That concept alone was too good for Pokemon.

I actually like Pikachu! He's my favorite character to play in Super Smash Bros Brawl! :D

I just thought of a major advantage a lot of LucasArts characters would have in a fight against any casual gamer action hero: they can't die. In Guybrush's case, you literally have to hold his head underwater for 9 minutes just to kill him. And if you try to leave him to his death in any other situation, Guybrush's survival instincts kick in and he'll make a beeline for the exit. You can't say the same for any other type of game hero, who'll let themselves be bludgeoned to death like morons if you go to answer the phone without pausing first.

The main difference being that in Adventure games the "action" is very slow-paced. You can stand in one area without fear of any enemies approaching you and even if they do, they won't attack.

In an action-oriented game, there are usually enemies who're violently attacking you. If you let your character sit there, the chances of an enemy running into you and subsequently attempting to kill you is high.

None of this says anything about the character, but instead the game environment itself.

Besides... who'd ever leave their computer without pausing the game first? :P

I'm pretty sure one could leave Guybrush Threepwood to get punched around the island by LeChuck all night, and he'd still be there, fresh as a daisy, in the morning. :)

Yeah, but... it's rare that characters are even ALLOWED to die in LucasArts Adventure games. That says very little about the characters themselves.
