I mean other than the unbeatable classic of LSLIV. That game is amazing. So pick another besides that one.
Let's get this section of the forum rolling by discussing your favorite LSL game - and why it's your favorite. After we get a reply or two in here I will give my answer (because I know you're sitting on the edge of the chair wanting to know, right?)

Good point. See MCL didn't even cross my mind. I played MCL for about 30 minutes before the one girl who swears like a sailor got to be too much for me and I removed the CD and uninstalled the game. And I was on the MCL forum saying that we need to give it a chance too (before it came out).
I'm so ashamed.

Yes, but then by some people - they'd say -
"Well King's Quest III wasn't even about a King... King's Quest IV wasn't a King... King's Quest VI wasn't even a King... King's Quest VII - two of them weren't even Kings..."
Silly people.

Leisure Suit Larry 3: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of Pulsating Pectorals!
I love Patti and I actually feel that, once she was written off from the latter games, the whole series worsened in quality, becoming too much episodic for my taste and too much reliant on heavy humor.
In this one, it was wonderful to play in the Larry's universe from the point of view of Patti, of a woman which was way nearer my person point of view than Larry. It was also the sweetest chapter, the one - at least in my opinion - with most real sentiment and the finale was gorgeous: in the Rosella/whale-tongue scene I was literally "rolling on the floor laughing"

LSLIII is my second favorite - for the same reason you mentioned of being able to play Passionate Patti. And I also agree the series was worse for dropping her. (Though it was sort of established that everytime Larry found someone, they dropped him later...)
But for me it was Leisure Suit Larry 2. Perhaps it's the cover that did it (the best LSL cover hands down) - or it could be because the game felt so huge. (I loved the minor details like people walking around in the background of Hollywood and all of that stuff). The game had it's seriously difficult moments (on the boat and the air plane) - but I loved playing LSL2.

LSL2 comes a close second favorite. I used to reserve that spot for LSL6, but then - after playing
Love for Sail! - I realize how much I liked the main trilogy, and LSL2 really deserve this honor

How did
Love For Sail influence the love for LSL2? Well other than the whole boat thing?

It was after I finished
Love for Sail that I realize how much I loved the first trilogy: it was cohesive and coherent, well-concluded and, all in all, finished. Larry found a personal dimension with Patti and his work at Sierra, where he put in games his real-life (mis)adventures.
Those three game are the highest point of the series. But, before playing LSL7, I continuously hoped that Patti might show up again and that, somehow, the latter chapters would reconnect to the main series. When this didn't happened, I was disappointed and LSL6, which was my second favorite after the third, then seemed to me like "the beginning of the end".
When Al Lowe wrote Patti off, the last two installments became nothing more, at least in my opinion, an episodic mish-mash. And I don't like episodic: I want characters to grow fond of and evolving stories.
I didn't find these qualities in LSL7 and, in retrospect, neither in LSL6. So, LSL2 came back to hold its bold second place

Makes sense. I will say that the um, easter eggs, in LSL7 were very nice.

I'm not very interested in ladies
, so they feel like an unnecessary addendum, but it was nice to go and find them.
A few moments I loved in LSL7: convincing the stylist that leisure suit are back in style; the cooking contest; the whole Annette Boning story; and finally
the end, with the space-ship: a pity that a LSL8 won't be made!

For me, LSL6.

I thought LSL7 was the most entertaining of the bunch. Episodic yes, but there was a nice variety of puzzles, running gags, gameplay options, and extras to keep me amused. Very nice animation too, and it probably has one of the most flexible interfaces they ever made.
Plus I really like the addition of using real songs in the soundtrack.

Haven't played 7 yet ... have it, just haven't played it. another thing to add to my need-to-play when I get into DOS mode.
I'd have to say my favorite is LSL3 ... nice long story without being bogged down, the flip to Patti in the second half was original, the soundtrack is great.
I liked 5 too, but sometimes the graphic style was a little loud. 6 seemed too much some how, like a little too much stuff was stuffed into it.
