I Posted This On The Sierra Boards, So Why Not Here Too?

In school our teacher made us write a business letter, and I chose to write it to Vivendi. I don't know if I sent it to the right place, though, so could anyone direct me to an appropriate email address that I could send it to as well? Thanks for your help. Oh, and if case anyone might be slightly interested, here it is. Tell me what you think!

To Whom It May Concern:

For many years, I have been a devoted fan of Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games. Since before Sierra On-Line was purchased by Vivendi, I have played their games for the PC and have been greatly entertained and intrigued by them. Some of the best memories I have with my father were sitting at the computer watching while he played the games, helping him to see things in them that he could not. Much, if not all, of my strong interest in computers has been because of these games; games that I feel have been some of the leading factors in the public interest in video games in general. In my opinion, gaming would not be such a phenomenon that it is today without the contributions of Sierra and Vivendi.

I have always been curious as to why adventure game production has been in such a decline in recent years. Almost every game you see on the shelves in stores are essentially the same; there is no real distinction in them. With classic adventures, this was never the case. Each game brought something new to the table. There were always new things to learn. My request is simple. I am asking what many adventure game fans wish to ask. Please allow the production of original, new adventure games in this time of monotony in games. It is needed by all. The release of Nintendo?s Wii console has allowed for the implementation of new point-and-click style adventure games. Many if not all fans of these games would become stronger than ever, and new gamers worldwide would be attracted by this classic-yet-fun way to play games on this family-oriented gaming console.

Another way to renew interest in these classic games would be to re-release them with Windows XP and Vista compatibility. While Vivendi has attempted this in the past, essentially it was a failure. This is not because there is no interest in the games, however. It is because of the careless and budget-oriented way these games were released. Gamers wish to see the best possible version of a game, but fans also want to be able to play them in their original, text-parser format. Including every game in a beloved series would also attract more customers. Extras, such as making-of videos, demos, concept art, etc. would also attract consumers. Gamers are more willing to spend more money than is needed to buy classic forms of these collections on auction websites such as eBay than to buy poorly developed new forms of the collections, as were recently released by Vivendi. Please take this letter to heart and think more of your fans than your wallets. From one of the greatest fans of video games, this is one of the only ways to continue to renew my interest in video games. Without the fans, there is no profit. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, Jasef Wisener
