More Adventure gamers than we think?

Maia and I were playing Team Fortress 2 last night and we saw someone with the name "Larry Laffer."

One night on TF2 -- when I was up late playing after Maia had gone to bed -- I even saw someone named "Gabriel Knight."

Neither are common names. Well, I'm sure Gabe's name is more common than Larry's, but it's still an odd coincidence.

It's quite possible these individuals play (or have played) the Sierra games. Maybe they're around our age and played the games when they were new or they're trying them out now. Regardless, that means there are more Adventure gamers out there, even if they're playing other genres too.

Undoubtedly! What would have been cool is if you could have sent them an in game message and asked - and then directed them this way to the forums! :D

Adventurer gamers are EVERYWHERE. If I drop a name like "King's Quest" or "Monkey Island," someone almost always knows what I'm talking about and does a few name-drops of their own. People, for some reason, are just less forward about being adventure gamers than any other kind.

Maia and I saw two players last night on TF2 named "Guybrush Threepwood" and "LeChuck". We've actually seen them a couple of times before and they're always together (but not necessarily on the same team).

I just thought this was interesting and made sure to take a screen shot. I played a Spy that night and spent the entire match trying to kill Maia (her TF2 name is Virtuelle). She was an Engineer and her sentry (an automated defense turret you build that fires missiles and bullets) kept blasting me. I did, however, manage to back stab her once. :P

Yes, too bad the other spy on your team didn't learn his lesson after the first time my sentry nailed him for backstabbing me. That round was awesome. Being somewhat obsessive-compulsive enabled me to find the perfect location for my turret and it got 37 kills before someone was able to take it out. :D Of course, being somewhat obsessive-compulsive and having to place my dispenser just right was what enabled DPX to have time to backstab me without my new turret being functional. :x ;)

Sometimes the server only has space on opposite teams, to keep things balanced, but we usually like to play together.

Anyway, I think I even recall seeing someone named "Gabriel Knight" once.
