KQV (NES): Mordack appears right after I charge the wand
Happy new year to all! I am playing the NES version of KQ and although I know the solution, I am stuck by an unpredicted event at the very end. So, after Mordack falls asleep and I steal his wand, I go to the machine, put the 2 wands there then activate the machine with the cheese. According to the ...

QfG1 VGA package
I had bought the original QfG1 EGA (Hero's Quest 1 back then) and it had the usual packaging of Sierra games: reference card, technical manual and an in-universe document (namely the "Adventurer's Handbook"). Unfortunately when I bought the QfG1 VGA remake it was a Kixx release and it didn...

Re: Cultural identities of the settings in adventure-RPGs
I like that QfG1 has non-germanic elements. It gives the impression of a cosmopolitan, wider world. That there is some other fantasy world outside the forest you can currently see. Dryads, Minotaurs and Centaurs are indeed Greek, but IMHO they are now genericized and dissociated from the ancient Gre...

Re: Laura Bow II - Detailed Plot Summary (Spoilers)
very nice. Cudos for preserving it :) I am not sure about CB, but there are some very comprehensive guides at Gamefaqs that explain the characters and backstory. As for the Tut Smith issue, I think it's a plotholle inherent to the game and no fanfic can save it. There is no game with such a complex ...

Re: Running the demo in DOSBox: too slow
Thank you Collector but it's not a matter of corrupted files. I have the same problem with running eg. Lighthouse: the intro runs like a slideshow. It's a matter of DOSBox settings.

Running the demo in DOSBox: too slow
I found somewhere in my old files a forgotten zip with files of the Phantasmagoria demo. I unzipped it to a temporary folder, ran the install script from DOSBox etc etc. It seems that the original files are supposed to be in a CD rom so I mounted that folder as a CD rom in DOSBox and attempted to ru...

Re: Dr. Brain CD version
Thank you for the reply Coll. So it's like 6 MB of a game burned in a CD? Is there any information about what they filled the package/disk with?

Dr. Brain CD version
I learned that at least Castle and Island of Dr. Brain had been re-released in CD. I found absolutely no information about those versions other than scans of the packages and jewel cases. I think they were released in or around 1996. Does anyone know how different they were from the original floppy ...

Re: LSL-type vacation?
Yea that's what I said. I THOUGHT Hawai'i is closer to US but turned out it isn't :) But no, there are 2 islands in LSL2: the evil guy's (Nonookee) base is Nontoonyt. When you see it in LSL2 it is primitive but in 3 it becomes the tourist paradise. The "Evil Island" I am referring to is th...

Re: LSL-type vacation?
Thanks for the input Tawnmis :) Yea Hawai'i was too obvious to come to mind. Besides I thought it was much closer to the US so I never thought it was as isolated (that is, surrounded by ocean) as Nontoonyt. As for Snake Island, I think you suggested it because it is geophysically similar to Evil Isl...

LSL-type vacation?
When asked which video game world I'd most like to enter and visit, the answer was simple: the world of Larry. Why wishing to be in space or some fantasy realm while you can have sea cruises, luxurious hotels, casinos, and exotic island resorts? :D In case I plan to have an exotic voyage I would lik...

Earthsiege battlesets?
I have downloaded the free cdrom of MT: ES and started playing. I've noticed that among the options is "load battlesets". According to a manual, the battlesets see to be custom scenarios that would be released as expansions to the game. Other than i have found some gameplay youtube videos ...

Re: Metaltech/Tribes Universe Games Released For Free!
Great news on the day I decide to check this forum again :) I had played the first Earth Siege game, but never finished it. Silly question: I haven't been able to make head or tails about the Metaltech/Earthsiege/Starsiege/Tribes universe. Do the games represent some cohesive storyline? Are there so...
