Are you a living thing?
No

Tawmis wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 12:28 am Are you the gold mine?
No

New hint:
I can only be obtained after doing something very specific.
Isn't that pretty much EVERY thing?

Can only obtain the gold mine by using the oil in the lantern, for example.

Crikey.

I will need to think on this more. :D
Let me clarify. Specific and obscure. I said this one would be tricky. Next clue I'll give will maybe be more helpful.

Son of a. So I was on the right track earlier - the only thing I can think of is the "255" score, since the game shows a max of "250."

The official Walk Through provides a way to get 255.

I am hard to get - Almost impossible.
And impossible to find - Impossible to find on walk throughs
Can't even be seen - Can't be seen on the game (max shows 250)
You are definitely an expert if you manage to get me. - Expert requires the 255
While can't be seen in California, I can be obtained there. - Score still won't show 255, but the end of the game is California, so it'd require it being there to get 255 at the end
You won't get any points for getting me, but I am a reward. - The score
I can only be obtained after doing something very specific. - You have to do some of the specific things mentioned in the (official) walk through to get the extra 5 points

No. And it's been a while but I thought the 255 shows up when you pick one of the routes.

Anyway. This will probably give it way. Check out my playthrough.

Are you the "Goldmine expert BONUS"...

Which...

All the clues line up with (two of them "can't even see it" - both when you get it and needing to do it in the dark)....

Which, yes, I would have NEVER gotten. :D

Because I'd forgotten that existed from your playthrough. Had never heard of it before you'd mentioned it back then.

You are correct! Told you it would be tricky. Maybe a little too tricky.

I am hard to get - Navigating the mine in the dark is certainly difficult and tedious
And impossible to find - You can't find the bonus. You get it as a reward. That is why I was such a stickler for words, such as using "obtained"
Can't even be seen - There is no image of the bonus, even though it is in your inventory. (I actually wasn't think of needing to do it in the dark at the time, but that works too)

You are definitely an expert if you manage to get me. - Trying to give the name of the item away as a clue

Your turn. Hopefully we won't get any revenge from you. :)

I would not have gotten it either without the last BLATANT clue. :)
Because despite the number of times I've played Gold Rush (which is surprisingly quite a bit) - I didn't know that was a thing.

All right - thought of something.

Come discover my delight
Under the pale moon light
All you have to do is find my ring
And I will give you something.

Most games are 'quest' games. :)

I assume you mean with 'Quest' in the title?

If so, yes.

OK. Is the setting an 'earth' setting (e.g. PQ or LSL)?
