Are you the clock?

Beware of the shadows
And watch where you go

The clock is an entrance to a secret passage.

You're not alone here
Feel the creeping fear
I can give you hand
Once you understand.

"Hand" is a reference to the hands of a clock.

Added clue after your guess -

You see me in one room
But I am everywhere
I spell someone's doom
So you'd best beware!

The real clock is in the downstairs hallway, but the "game clock" is everywhere as the story progresses. As it progresses, people die.

I am indeed, the clock!

Beware of the shadows <-- this was a clue to the game; when Laura goes in the shower, a shadowy figure enters the room and kills her
And watch where you go <-- this was me being funny by saying "watch" when I was the clock (as in watch you wear on your wrist)
You're not alone here <-- this is the clue that people watch through the secret passages into the other rooms
Feel the creeping fear
I can give you hand <-- the hand on the clock, and give a hand in helping spy
Once you understand. <-- once you figure out the clock

You see me in one room
But I am everywhere
I spell someone's doom
So you'd best beware!
--> And this section is just as you figured!

Your turn!

Someone needed me
To help them out with a lie
Just how bad is this?

Well, it's a 5-7-5 haiku, which is the classical structure. So it's not tomb too bad. ;)

Are you in a Sierra game?

A lot of my clues are haikus. It's easier for me than coming up with a rhyme.

Yes, I am a game under the Sierra label.

I free form my $#!++y clues.

Too much work for me to make sure syllables and such fit the haiku structure.

Are you in a "Quest" game (i.e. a game with the word "Quest" in the title)?

I'm the opposite. Every time I think of a rhyme, it feels like the best I can muster is "The cat sat on the mat." from Dead Poets Society. For whatever reason the haikus come more readily.

I think because, back in the 80s - my friends and I swore we were going to be a band. And I was writing the lyrics to our songs. Note, I had 30 lyrics per 1 musical song we'd come up with. So we'd play the music, look at the different lyrics I wrote, find the one that fits the feel of the music, then change the lyrics a little to match.

Needless to say, we never got anywhere. But I remember our band name was going to be "Soul Survivor." :D

So I think because I was just pouring our lyrics back then... It just always comes easier to free form rhyming words, because they're going to get shuffled around musically anyway.

Anyway - so not in a "Quest" game.

Is the game based on Earth? (for example, Codename: Iceman)

Heh. I wrote over 500 QfGlorifications (i.e. song parodies to "glorify" Quest for Glory). ;) Naturally, I became quite good at rhyming and parodying, even if I do say so myself. :P @ self ;)

Never tried to form a band, though.

Is the game set in space, then? (GAMES! IN!! SPAAAAAAACE!!!) :P

Are you in a game listed here by Sierra all the way through (including) 1985?
