Not really; all we know is that the game was made by Sierra between 1991 and 1994 (inclusive), and there's no FMV... hmm. *grabs his magnifying glass and puts on his Sherlock Holmes hat* ;)

If it was made by Sierra, then according to wiki, that leaves us only 5 candidates:

- Castle of Dr Brain
- Jones in the Fast Lane
- Mixed-Up Mother Goose
- The Dagger of Amon Ra
- Island of Dr Brain

Since we're discussing adventure games, I doubt it could be anything except "Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra". :D My suspicions were confirmed when I noticed that you've recently played this game for your Let's Play Channel.

So let's make this official: are you somewhere in "Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra"?

(There's a bit of sleuthing I never thought I'd do at 7:30 am. ;) It's just as well that I'm working-from-home and don't have to rush for the train) ;)

Dagger of Amon Ra makes sense, since he just posted his playthough.

Are you an inventory item?

Hmm ... are you something that people wear (i.e. a piece of clothing, a watch, a pair of glasses etc.)?

I'd recommend looking at the three clues I gave. Now that you know the game, it should literally narrow it down to two items with one making more sense than the other. :)

Are you the fake dagger?

I am not what I seem; -- Not the real one
But I help you get around; -- I think it is used a few times.
Help you accomplish your dream
Once I've been found.

Sigh. Beaten to the punch again!

If you're not the fake dagger, are you the skeleton key?

I am not what I seem........................................................You're not a key like the one that Laura unlocks her desk with
But I help you get around...................................................You use the skeleton key to unlock the chest in the mammalogy lab
Help you accomplish your dream..........................................Yes, you have to unlock that chest! ;) (You find Archibald Carrington III inside - or death by flesh-eating ants) :twisted:

Heh, I assumed someone might guess the Fake Dagger. But I am not.
(Laura doesn't actually get the fake dagger until the end - it's the real dagger she finds)
And I am not the skeleton key.

So! Two more clues!

I am not what I seem;
But I help you get around;
Help you accomplish your dream
Once I've been found.
You could say I'm used for motivation
And you will need communication.
I am used more than once, but don't always need to be
You could even say, it's always free.

Clearly not reading the clues. How are the wire cutters not what they seem though - which is the first line of my clue?
But I'll add another clue.

I am not what I seem;
But I help you get around;
Help you accomplish your dream
Once I've been found.
You could say I'm used for motivation

I am used more than once, but don't always need to be
You could even say, it's always free.
When you use me, eventually you will see someone new
And when you do, there's something special to do.

Are you the press pass?

It's not really a pass. It's an advertisement for the laundry. But you use it to get around.

Yes!

I am not what I seem; - As noted it's actually a laundry press that gets used as a Press pass
But I help you get around; - Used for the Taxi
Help you accomplish your dream - Helps become the journalist that cracks the case
Once I've been found.
You could say I'm used for motivation - When the taxi driver picks you up he asks, "How can I motivate you?"
And you will need communication. - Need to use your notebook to tell the Taxi driver where to go
I am used more than once, but don't always need to be - Never knew this (all these years!) until after my play through - I checked, and some areas are connected and you can cross the street to get to them...!
You could even say, it's always free. - Taxi driver says you either have to be Press or pay - by having the Press pass, it's always free
When you use me, eventually you will see someone new
And when you do, there's something special to do.
- You see the same Taxi driver, until a different one finally picks you up, and has trash in the cab - you need to move the trash to find an item.

The clues just confuse me
to a wreck they reduce me.
I could read them all day
And they'll still 'Go away!'
I could guess or wish for fame,
But I'll never win this game.

My turn:

There are two of us
One ought to look familiar
The other... useless
