"The Voodoo Murders: A Blake Backlash Mystery". Yes I am!

I know they were going for an over the top name for the protagonist, but "Backlash"? Sounds like one of those names from MST3K: Slab Bulkhead, Butch Deadlift, Fist Rockbone!

Blake Blacklash! :D Honestly, those names from MST3K are very reminiscent of classic D&D names for heroes (i.e. D&D 2nd edition). My username, Rath Darkblade, is from that era. ;) You also have Drizzt Do'Urden, a Drow Ranger, and Bruenor Battlehammer, Dwarf Fighter. All hail way-over-the-top names! :D

These are what Terry Pratchett was parodying in Discworld, with dwarfs like Minty Rocksmacker, Cheery Littlebottom, and Blodwen Footcracker, and many others. My favourite is a dwarf perfumer named Grabpot Thundergust. It's just right for a perfumer.

Anyway, I have one. Guess away! :D

I can see an over the top name that's actually a name like "Hunter" or "Stryker", but "Backlash" isn't really a name. It's not even that "awesome" sounding either.

Anyway,

Are you in a game with "Quest" in the title?

Hmm ... I haven't seen anyone by the first name of "Stryker" before (who calls their child "Stryker"? That kid would be bullied so hard in shcool...), but I've seen even grander names, like "Zeppelin Bom" (um...?) or a former patient at a hospital I once worked at, the splendidly named "Odin Michael Jackson Bruce Willis". (No comment).

I meant "Stryker" as a last name.

Are you in a game with a fantasy setting?

"Stryker" as a last name is also unusual. It seems to me like a "pretend-medieval" name, almost D&D; most medieval names we know of are far more prosaic, and are either patronymic (Johnson, Jameson, Abrahamson etc.) or portray the father's profession (Carter, Bowyer, Fletcher, Smith and so on).
