Cleaning Out My Closet...

Hey everybody,

Once upon a time I thought I'd put my second-hand store trips to good use. I often search for games there, and every once in a while, I strike gold. So I intended to set up a little old game trade. Somehow it didn't happen, and now I have a number of games in stock that I'll never play or that I have more than once, not to mention game boxes I'm not interested in.

I have quite a bit by now, but here's only the Sierra ones. If you'd like to know about the rest, drop me a PM.

All of these games are CDs, and unless otherwise noted, without box. The games I have played are in good condition. I'm not sure about the rest, but there's no clear damage on any of the disks.
And SO stands for Sierra Originals.

Currently I have and am keen to get rid of:
3D Pinball, in DVD jewelcase or CD jewelcase
Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance (x2)
Earthsiege 2 SO
Gabriel Knight: Sins Of The Fathers SO
Gabriel Knight 3: Blood Of The Sacred, Blood Of The Damned re-release in DVD-jewelcase with Dutch flap text

King's Quest 7 (English, apparently version 1)
King's Quest 7 (German, version 2) Intro video
Leisure Suit Larry 7 (regular or re-release in DVD jewelcase with Dutch and French texts)
Lighthouse
Quest for Glory 5
Phantasmagoria
Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle Of Flesh SO, with box
Police Quest SWAT
Police Quest SWAT SO
Shivers (either SO or original)
Torin's Passage SO

What would you want? I already own KQ7 several times over, but I don't have version 1 or the German version 2. I'm not really interested in collecting them, but I could use them to develop patches for those versions of the game.

Somebody already posted here a while back asking for a patch to convert an earlier version of the German KQ7, but could not because of the lack of a version 2 German. I was also asked about a French and an Italian patch, but could do nothing about them. Getting KQ7 to run on modern PCs requires it to be patched to version 2, which has a DOS interpreter and can be played in DOSBox. Version 2 is so different from the earlier versions that you can't just take a few files from v2 and drop them into an earlier version. You have to replace nearly the entire game, including the game data files. The only way to legally update it is to do a binary level patch, which requires that the user has a copy of the version to be updated.

To make a binary level patch I need a copy of the version to be patched and a copy of the version that it is to be patched to. I have version 1.4, 1.51, 2.00b and 2 Spanish. I believe that there is one other English version that I don't have, possibly 1.67?

Is the QfG5 with box?

Hey Collector,
I'm not really interested in trading, more into "getting it out of the way". Whatever gets out of my disk tower is fine with me, I don't need anything in return.

I don't know for sure what version my English KQ7 is. How do you look that up?
My QfG is not in box. Sorry.

Look for a file on the CD named "VERSION" and open it in Notepad.

It turns out to be version 2:00b. Which is odd because I did have the firecracker problem.
Also it has Dutch text on the back, but somebody there messed up and left one English paragraph on it as well.

Version does not fix the firecracker bug , but it does fix several lesser bugs and most importantly, comes with a DOS interpreter, which allows it to be played in DOSBox so that the firecracker scene plays as intended.

Unfortunately I cannot update my own post here, but QfG5, LSL7 regular, Torin and both Gabriels have found new homes.

Thanks Andrea!

I've got a new title up for trade:
Pharao, in box, with Product Guarantee Card, manual, map, and the original plastic wrap! (that is: the wrap is inside the box, not around it anymore.)
