....is out today. And so far it's pretty interesting! The introduction sequence is especially intriguing and poses questions as to what's to come in later episodes!

$24.95? That'd better be for the entire season, not just the first chapter.

Too bad it's not on Steam. I can just imagine the TF2 hats they'd offer. :P

Yes, it's the whole season as usual. And it will be on Steam very soon.

Just finished it tonight. It was rather annoyingly short and easy (I'd go as far as to say the shortest and easiest Telltale episode EVER) especially with a new built-in "ask-for-a-hint" system as well as the standard "character-speaks-a-hint-if-you're-stuck" system. The storyline, however, is FANTASTIC. I'm so engaged and drawn in and can't wait to see what happens next! The writing is excellent. It's also great to hear Christopher Lloyd as Doc again. Fits right back into his role perfectly. And AJ is virtually indistinguishable from Michael J Fox especially once you're playing. It's the most transparent Fox impersonation I've ever heard and it holds up well with pretty much every line spoken in the game.

In short, get it.

There are 5 episodes in all and you get all of them for $24.95. Only the first one is released right now, as per usual at Telltale.

I just finished playing it last night. It's very well done and stays true to the spirit of BTTF. There's a lot of references to the movies, and you do get to revisit a lot of old ideas (the obligatory fan-service,) but it's all handled really well with a few twists. I especially love how they do the opening scene, and the first puzzle had me laughing my butt off. I imagine as with TOMI, that the fan-service will wear off somewhere around Episode 3 and then the story will get really get interesting. There's already a lot of foreshadowing to suggest that the best is yet to come.

My only gripe: too easy. I was walking around - simply exploring - and would often solve a puzzle by accident. But there's a lot going on, and as with every Telltale episode, it still takes about 3-4 hours to finish.

The best bit I love in the game: you get to choose your fake name in the past. They only give you three options (I was walking around telling everyone I was Harry Callahan) but it's still awesome to have that kind of involvement.

And yes - it's always awesome to hear Christopher Lloyd in anything. I think I added a few new words to my vocabulary last night just listening to him. The new guy they got for Marty was perfect too.

Seeing how they're handling BTTF only makes me all the more excited for Jurassic Park.

I was interested in getting it until I saw the price tag. I couldn't care less if it's $24.95 for the whole season released over time... the fact is your paying $24.95 for an episode now and then other episodes as they come out. I'll wait to pick it up when the whole season is released. It feels too much like pre-ordering to buy the whole season now when you only have access to one episode out-the-gate.

That's the way it's always been. What's the difference? You know it's going to be good. Besides, Telltale always has a demo for their games. You can try it out and decide whether you want to buy it. But what's the difference paying for it now or later? You're going to own them all either way.

Yea that's their business model. That's also why I have never purchased anything from their website. I waited for Sam and Max to hit retail before I purchased it (the only Telltale product I own, actually). I was hoping that Back to the Future would follow a different business/distribution model... if for no other reason for it's franchise pedigree and legacy.

But meh.... whether I play it now or play it later... makes no difference to me. I'd just rather wait for the whole shebang and buy it then. I despise pre-ordering with a passion.

Why's that?

I imagine he feels that way because pre-ordering an episodic game series is potentially dangerous. Sure, it's unlikely TellTale wouldn't finish the series (or something worse), but the fact remains you're paying ahead of time based on the promise that future episodes will be released.

My main issue is I hate waiting for future releases. If I buy it as a complete series, I have it all right then and there. I'd rather wait and get everything at once rather than get bits and pieces over time.

This would be my issue as well. Because what if you lose the "feel" for the game, waiting, then need to replay the first, second, third (whatever) episodes, all over again to get into the mindset.

Although, to that degree... look at Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or any game that offers expansions... all the same idea... you're only getting part of the story... piece by piece. (Except movies and expansions cost more money, where as this is a one time fee thing).

Half the time no one knows there will be a sequel, so there's no real "waiting around" to do. Sure, with some movies it's a given (ESB and all the SW prequels), but not with most films. When the original SW came out, NO ONE (most likely including Lucas) had any idea the movie would be popular enough to warrant additional films.

Often sequels are independent of each other as well. Indiana Jones is a good example. None of the IJ movies directly tie into one another. There are some brief references here and there (most of which are extremely minor), but nothing that requires the viewer to watch previous movies.

As for game expansions, you don't know they'll happen. No one knew Awakenings would get made when Dragon Age: Origins was released. For all we know, there could be several expansions released for Dragon Age 2 later on.
