... the SHP forums ever closed down, would you ever be interested in carrying on Discussions on Discord text channels?
Something like this?
Note: I have no inside knowledge of anything - just curious (as I am a very avid user of Discord myself)
Before you panic, you can see the date in there is 2022. It was me messing around to recreate SHP when the forums were having issues as an alternative till the forums were restored.

I think I'd be fine with it. I got an account a while ago, but haven't really used it. I did think the interface was confusing, but that may be because of lack of experience. I guess any forum could look confusing if you are not used to it.

I tried using Discord, but yes, the interface was very confusing. :-\ Too many options compared with the SHP. I could give it a try, I suppose, but the SHP is still working.
Why do you ask, Tawm?

Why do you ask, Tawm?
As I said, was just going over all my Discord servers I run (or am in) and saw I'd created this back in 2022 when the forums were having issues here.

I had made a section for each of the games, so discussions could happen in those channels (so King's Quest has a channel, Police Quest has a channel, etc etc).
Naturally, there's no conversations yet, as I just made the URL known here.
I am very open to suggestions in case this becomes the new norm.

I'm sorry not to have logged in yet, but I spent nearly 7 hours (over 2 nights) cleaning up and editing a chapter in my current book!
And after months and months of Development Hell, and sleepless nights, and bashing my head against a wall (and/or my desk), I finally made a breakthrough ... well, TWO breakthroughs. Woohoo!
I just need some sleep soon, so I can work tomorrow, and I'll come back and sign in to Discord. I just hope I'm not too late! *crosses fingers*

There's no rush. It will stay there. So far, the only conversation is between Jasef and I and why he hasn't thrown King's Quest VIII out the window.
There's a suggestion box channel in Discord, so if you have ideas, thoughts, whatever, I am open to hear them.
As a side note, there's no way it will ever be anything like a PHPBB forum (like here) which has the ideal format for this type of stuff - I can only try to mimic it (the best Discord allows).

I tried Discord now, and I must say, it is very confusing.
The current SHP forums (as they stand) are outstanding.
I can see at a glance what threads are new, open them in new tabs, and read them one by one. With Discord, this is impossible.
Also, Discord is full of supposedly "cool" features (I think it's called "Nitro" or something) that takes my "cat" avatar, or Tawm's avatar etc., and spins it around in "cool" colours.
That is not cool, it is nauseating. Spinning arooound and aroooound and arooound and ... oh boy, I'm going to be physically ill.
I remember back when I was on the internet in the mid-1990s. We weren't ... *makes quote marks with fingers* ... "surfing the web" with animations and videos and graphics. It was all TEXT!!! ... an' we LIKED it that way. *sulks comically*

Hahaha! I thought I had replied to this!
But I think I closed my browser before hitting submit.
So - PHPBB is my favorite forum type, so there's no replacing how wonderful it is.
As for the Nitro thing - I've no idea why you're seeing that. The Server isn't Nitro boosted, nor does anyone so far seem to have Nitro enabled for themselves.
With Discord, you CAN open them in new tabs. If you launch the browser version of Discord. But not sure why you'd open them in new tabs instead of just getting to them, one at a time, in a single tab (even PHPBB, I wouldn't open multiple tabs). I just read everything in a single tab, one at a time.

Mine too.
But if it's coming to an end, that's why I made some suggestions on
the other thread about Ezboard and Yuku, and things like that.

Fair enough. *nod* I simply look for the recent threads (or the ones I'm following), open them in multiple tabs, and read and reply, one at a time.
