That is scary. I've wondered how Steam vets indie developers. Seems like they do, at first. I wonder if maybe they need to make sure the developer has a valid address or something.

Also, why do we need crypto? It seems like it's only ever used for fraud or crimes like this.

Perhaps having the games signed, like a developer would an app?

Crypto does automatically make it smell of a scam.

Wow. I agree with NBS and Collector: the massive hype surrounding Crypto, and the wild claims made by it, made it seem VERY fishy to me.

In and of itself, Crypto is not inherently good or bad - it's what people do with it that counts. As an asset, it is highly volatile and high-risk, meaning that it's possible to make -- or lose -- a lot of money by investing in it. Tread carefully.
