Re: Apple IIGS emulators -- questions
I made a movie of it -- I could post it on youtube, or I can see if I can post just the error message that I get when trying to load the disk. I tried loading my Black Cauldron copy on Kegs, and I got the same 0 instead of 800 message displayed, but I know that my copy works. Not really sure what's ...

Re: Apple IIGS emulators -- questions
but it just gives me the 0 instead of the expected message...but the disk images load fine. What do you mean? Could you show a screen shot of that? Sure -- now that I know how to do that. I just found out how to do this yesterday -- I'm not sure how to post it on the forum...but let me go load Kegs...

Re: Apple IIGS emulators -- questions
Nope -- I have OS X Snow Leopard, and it doesn't allow me to run Classic or System 9. If I try to run something that is Classic, a message pops up that tells me that Classic isn't supported. This is the first Apple computer I've had since the Apple IIGS, so I don't have any of the older operating sy...

Re: Apple IIGS emulators -- questions
So King's Quest II disk image that you found online doesn't work either? If it's the site I'm thinking of, the problem is probably the online emulator is quirky, but KQ2 does work. The button to mount disks doesn't work. You have to right click and do it manually. You can also download the disk ima...

Re: KQII PC Booter version
My original Apple IIGS King's Quest II disk 1 definitely has copy protection on it, as it won't let me play a copied disk image without inserting the original disk. I don't know if they did this with any other version of the game -- but mine seems to have a CPC copy protection on it (given what you ...

Re: Apple IIGS emulators -- questions
The early AGI games had the infamous CPC disk copy protection that faked a bad sector to hide part of the copy protection. This causes problems on modern systems that don't give the low level access that this copy protection requires to work. You can read more about it here . There was the old SUP ...

Apple IIGS emulators -- questions
Now that I feel that the DOSBox issues and playing the games on Mac is getting someplace, I have some additional questions. My family owns an old Apple IIGS that we've had since I was in kindergarten. This was how I first heard about King's Quest. My dad used to play the games with me on that comput...

Re: Kings Quest VI Mac
The Mac forum on VOGONS is for emulating old Macs, not for DOSBox on Macs. If you copy the game on the Mac, you can install ScummVM to play the Windows version of the game. I much prefer DOSBox for most of the Sierra games, but the Windows version of KQ6 makes it one of the few Sierra games that I ...

Re: I Just Want To Play KQ7 on a Mac OSX
That's what I didCollector wrote:The games need to be set up. Use the new installer to install it in your Windows VM and copy that folder over to the Mac side, not directly from the CD.
Thank you, though.

Re: I Just Want To Play KQ7 on a Mac OSX
Wait...I'm confused. Okay, I have the original files from the KQ 1997 collection copied to my Mac in a folder I created in Finder. I can't figure out DOSBox without having it automatically running with the games, as the 2006 collection did with whatever ones it had it do that with. When I tried play...

Re: Kings Quest VI Mac
I'm not sure if you've tried this, but DOSBox is available for Mac OS X. I know that sounds weird, given that the Mac has never used DOS, but the program is still there for download. I don't know if it'll work, but you might as well give it a try. Another option is to dual boot your system with bot...
