AI Plots For Sierra Games
Re: Had Chatgpt collect info on Manhunter 1 and 2. Then told it to write an idea for Manhunter 3...
hahahahaha it's in good fun! I don't know Manhunter much but it's a good thing that it still takes a Jane Jensen to make a Gabriel Knight. Hallmark of the series is the research and how it interweaves real-life history with a paranormal plotline in a way you're not sure where fantasy begins. Tawm's post shows no reference to actual Scottish history.
Heeeeey that's what my fanfic lacks. Maybe I could pick up the pieces and fill in some gaps

Re: Had Chatgpt collect info on Manhunter 1 and 2. Then told it to write an idea for Manhunter 3...
Where shall I start. How about ... a plot, genuine characters, an explanation how Thrain did what he did, some drama, a few jokes, some allies for Thrain with their own needs and wants and appearances etc., some antagonists for him to fight and defeat (and not too easy either) ...copilot wrote: Sure, here's a story about your dwarven fighter:
What do you think of Thrain's story? Would you like to add anything?
... and once you do that, copilot, then maybe it'll be ready for the 0th-draft.
Wait. Was I too harsh?

Tawm, can you please ask ChatGPT to write the plot of Quest for Glory 6? I'd be interested to know what it thinks happens next ...

Yeah I can do that from home, because ChatGPT is blocked from work.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:20 am Tawm, can you please ask ChatGPT to write the plot of Quest for Glory 6? I'd be interested to know what it thinks happens next ...

Fair enough, no hurry. I presume ChatGPT is blocked at work because work deems it unnecessary and time-wasting?

Because chatgpt stores data you put into it to help train it and work doesn't want employees putting in work data (which it would then store) - for example you could copy and paste a document and tell chatgpt to "make this more friendly sounding" or whatever...Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:59 am Fair enough, no hurry. Anyway...
chatgpt wrote: Sure! Here’s a plot for *Quest for Glory 6: Shadows of the Sphinx*:
---
### **Title:** *Quest for Glory 6: Shadows of the Sphinx*
#### **Setting:**
The game is set in the vibrant and mysterious land of Sharaf, a sprawling desert realm with ancient ruins, bustling marketplaces, and mystical secrets. The land is ruled by a powerful sultan and guarded by the enigmatic Sphinx, a mystical guardian with deep ties to the land’s fate.
#### **Plot Summary:**
The hero arrives in Sharaf, drawn by rumors of an ancient prophecy and the potential for glory. The land is in turmoil: the sultan has vanished under mysterious circumstances, and the Sphinx’s presence has grown increasingly erratic. The once-peaceful land is now plagued by shadowy creatures and unsettling omens.
**1. The Vanishing Sultan:**
The hero discovers that the sultan disappeared during a ritual to renew the land's protective wards. The sultan's disappearance has left the realm vulnerable to dark forces. The local officials are desperate for help, and the hero is soon thrust into a complex web of politics, ancient magic, and hidden threats.
**2. The Sphinx's Test:**
The hero learns that the Sphinx, a majestic and enigmatic being, is linked to the land’s stability. The Sphinx has been corrupted by an ancient curse, and the land’s magic is destabilizing. To restore balance, the hero must undergo a series of trials set by the Sphinx to prove their worth and unlock ancient secrets.
**3. The Cult of Shadows:**
As the hero explores Sharaf, they uncover a sinister cult that seeks to harness the land’s magic for their own dark purposes. The cult is led by a powerful sorcerer who intends to seize the sultan’s throne and plunge Sharaf into eternal darkness. The hero must navigate through the cult’s hidden lairs and thwart their plans.
**4. The Desert's Secrets:**
The hero must journey through treacherous desert landscapes, uncovering hidden temples and forgotten ruins. These locations hold ancient relics and clues essential to solving the mystery of the sultan’s disappearance and breaking the Sphinx’s curse. The hero encounters various characters who provide assistance or pose additional challenges.
**5. The Final Confrontation:**
The hero gathers allies from different factions and races within Sharaf, each with their own motivations and histories. Together, they confront the sorcerer and the cult in a climactic battle. The hero must use their skills and the knowledge they’ve gained to defeat the sorcerer, restore the sultan, and cleanse the Sphinx’s corruption.
**6. The Restoration:**
With the sorcerer defeated and the sultan restored to his throne, the hero helps to renew the magical wards that protect Sharaf. The Sphinx, now freed from its curse, blesses the hero for their bravery. The land begins to heal, and the hero is honored with a grand celebration in their honor.
**7. The Legacy:**
As the hero prepares to leave Sharaf, they receive a special token from the sultan and the Sphinx, symbolizing their role in saving the land. The hero’s deeds become legend, and they are remembered as the champion who restored balance to Sharaf.
---
*Quest for Glory 6: Shadows of the Sphinx* combines classic adventure elements with rich storytelling and a unique desert setting, offering players a deep and immersive experience as they uncover secrets and restore harmony to a troubled land.

That sounds reaaaaally like a Tarna. Also, Sharaf is the name of the one of the kattas in Quest for Glory 2. I believe he's the one in the jail in Raseir; Shema's nephew, IIRC.chatgpt wrote: Sure! Here’s a plot for *Quest for Glory 6: Shadows of the Sphinx*:

So, ChatGPT just copied-and-pasted from QfG2 in the first sentence. Way to go.
Um, pardon me; "disappearing Sultan" is exactly the reason the hero goes to Raseir in QfG2.chatgpt wrote: #### **Plot Summary:**

Um...! (Sorry to put my hand up again) The "protective wards" thing and the "realm is vulnerable to dark forces" is exactly the start of QfG5.chatgpt wrote: **1. The Vanishing Sultan:**

...OK, I'll buy that.chatgpt wrote: **2. The Sphinx's Test:**

More or less OK, except the "eternal darkness" thing sounds exactly like QfG4. Also, "the land's magic"? What magic? This is not explained.chatgpt wrote: **3. The Cult of Shadows:**

... sounds like a mod for NWN1. Maybe Shadows of Undrentide (the one before Hordes of the Underdark)?chatgpt wrote: **4. The Desert's Secrets:**

Allies from different factions and races? Each with their own histories and motivations? Now I'm getting vibes from DAO.chatgpt wrote: **5. The Final Confrontation:**

Hooray, happy ending. But, again, evil sorcerer? Eternal darkness? Isn't this from Conan the Barbarian?chatgpt wrote: **6. The Restoration:**

A special token ... which is exactly something that happens in the beginning of QfG3 AND QfG5.chatgpt wrote: **7. The Legacy:**

Um, the desert setting isn't unique. Shadows of Undrentide ... Quest for Glory 2... or how about ... *drum roll* TRAINING MONTAGE!!!chatgpt wrote: *Quest for Glory 6: Shadows of the Sphinx* combines classic adventure elements with rich storytelling and a unique desert setting, offering players a deep and immersive experience as they uncover secrets and restore harmony to a troubled land.

Probably because no one has "trained" it to do much more.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:12 pm That sounds reaaaaally like a Tarna. Also, Sharaf is the name of the one of the kattas in Quest for Glory 2. I believe he's the one in the jail in Raseir; Shema's nephew, IIRC.

I mean, even the title is a bit of a knock "Shadows of" being in the name and all of QFGIV.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:12 pm Um, pardon me; "disappearing Sultan" is exactly the reason the hero goes to Raseir in QfG2.
I mean magical wards failing and dark forces seem to go hand in hand in many things.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:12 pm Um...! (Sorry to put my hand up again) The "protective wards" thing and the "realm is vulnerable to dark forces" is exactly the start of QfG5.
To me, the Sphinx's test reminded me of the Sphinx test in Quest for Glory IV inside the temple where you need to answer a few questions and the screen looks all wonky.
I assume it means the lands that the game is to take place in.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:12 pm More or less OK, except the "eternal darkness" thing sounds exactly like QfG4. Also, "the land's magic"? What magic? This is not explained.

I mean, it would be cool to do an Avengers: End Game scene with Kattas, and Liontaur people, etc., all fighting some big boss.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:12 pm Allies from different factions and races? Each with their own histories and motivations? Now I'm getting vibes from DAO.
And depending on what class you picked - Warriors/Paladins, are in the midst of battle commanding; Magic-Users are fixing the magical barriers, Rogues sneak in and disable enemy defenses.
That way the class you pick is very unique at the end too.

Rath Darkblade wrote:Can you write me the plot of Leisure Suit Larry 8: Lust! In! Spaaaaaace?
So, um ... that sounds almost exaaactly like LSL7. But with aliens.ChatGPT wrote:Sure! Leisure Suit Larry: Lust in Space is a point-and-click adventure game from the Leisure Suit Larry series, known for its humorous and risqué content. Here’s a summary of the plot:
The game follows the infamous, bumbling ladies' man Larry Laffer, who finds himself in the year 3088. Larry is still his same old self, dreaming of finding love and excitement, but his quest takes him into the far reaches of outer space.
Larry ends up on the Starship Titanic, a luxury space cruise liner, after responding to an ad promising "galactic pleasure" and "extraterrestrial excitement." However, his time on the ship is far from smooth. The vessel is filled with an array of colorful and eccentric characters, from seductive space aliens to a disgruntled android.
As Larry navigates the Starship Titanic, he must solve a series of puzzles and deal with various humorous and often awkward situations. His ultimate goal is to find and win the heart of the ship's elusive and glamorous captain, who has her own mysterious agenda. Along the way, Larry encounters bizarre alien species, engages in risqué encounters, and gets caught up in outlandish adventures, all while trying to avoid trouble and keep his dignity intact.
The game is filled with tongue-in-cheek humor, playful satire, and a variety of adult-themed jokes, staying true to the Leisure Suit Larry franchise's reputation for provocative comedy.
Just for fun, I tried asking:

Well, isn't that the problem with AI programs like this?
All it can do is synthesize and repurpose ("regurgitate") existing data and stories, speaking to mostly generalities and lacking specificity... It cannot create anything "new" (i.e., a "new" unthought-of idea) because it lacks imagination and creativity.
Garbage in, garbage out and all that...
