Re: GK1 and Arcanum on GOG

ALL of the SHP installers for the CD games only need the CDs for the install. Only the Betrayal at Krondor CD needs the CD for the CD audio music. 100% of the rest allow CD-less play. If I can find a reliable command line CD ripper, I will finish making installers for the remaining Sierra/Coktel Vision CD games and BaK CD that utilize audio CD. At that point I may branch out into the other Sierra family games.

Anyone know of a good, light weight, freeware ripper that reliably works from the CLI, via a batch file on Win XP/Vista/Win7, 32 and 64-bit? Plenty for Linux, but hens' teeth on Windows.

ripper=audio CD ripper
CLI=command line interface

In other words, a program that is small in size so that it would not add much to the size of an installer, is freeware so that there would be no legal issues with including it with an installer and can be completely controlled with a batch file, thus could be run by my NSIS script. It must also reliably work on all modern Windows.

Very nice find!

EDIT: Moving this to announcements, since I think it's fitting as such (based on a previous thread)! ;)

You know what's weird?

I had a dream the past two nights that Space Quest 4-6 came out on GOG. Creepy as frozen yogurt.

GOG and SHP!

Post by Collector »

Since GOG has now started adding the Sierra titles to their catalog, SHP has become an affiliate partner of GOG. If you don't have an account with GOG yet, If you set one up through this link, you can help SHP.

GOG has Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura, Gabriel Knight: Sins of The Fathers, Phantasmagoria, Space Quest 4-6, a Red Baron Pack, a pack of The Incredible Machine games, with more to come. GOG also has many non-Sierra favorites like The Longest Journey, including some free games.

Soooo - it's finally there :D

It's with no subtitles though, but thank god the subtitle patch is easily found here.

Collector... I just bought it, of course, but I want your opinion. How does the installation work? Does it use DOSBox? Does it use your wondrous installer?

I doubt that it uses my installer. I'll have to take a look in their forums to see what deficiencies it has.
