We all have seen so many delays, we should really start to place bets

Re: GREY MATTER update! (Sort of relates to Gabriel Knight too).
Actually, I was figuratively betting on it too. I said somewhere online that I really believed the previous postponement would be the last one.
(But having said that, I believe any further development time they get is certain to be needed. Surely everyone is eager to see the game ship, so they would not postpone it again without good reason. And I would hate for them to rush the release in the last stretch after all these years of effort.)

Me too. I'm eating my words for that.Simo Sakari Aaltonen wrote:I said somewhere online that I really believed the previous postponement would be the last one.
I agree. Like they say, 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease'. We must've slathered on the extra squeak.

This trailer is pretty bad, unfortunately. As you know, I already played the game and loved it, but if I had to judge it based on this trailer (and didn't know who Jane Jensen is), I would never give it a shot.

The first 50 seconds, yes. I don't like. But at the 51 seconds mark - when it gets all dark and mysterious - then yes, I liked it from then on!

How could you have already played GM when it doesn't come out until the end of October of this year?AndreaDraco wrote:This trailer is pretty bad, unfortunately. Okay, that makes sense then. I didn't know you and Jules were beta testers (or if I did, I certainly don't remember).AndreaDraco wrote:I was a beta-tester for the game.
Anyway... I agree with Andrea on the trailer: it's really poor. Sure, it shows a couple of very brief in-game action scenes, but it's otherwise all 2D drawings. At this point the game should be completed enough to show more in-game material, especially if beta testers like Andrea and Jules have already played the game.
I don't even know if I'll get GM. Maybe Maia will want it, in which case we'll end up buying it, but I'm not impressed and I know who Jensen is. Like Andrea said, this game trailer wouldn't entice anyone who didn't already know of Jensen to play it.
Having said that, I think it's interesting that GM will be available on not only the PC, but the Xbox 360 as well. According to Wikipedia, there's also a Wii version planned.

The music sounds great. I think the music is an underappreciated part of an adventure game, or really any game. My favorite adventures generally have a tune that is unmistakably associated with them. Grim Fandango, the GK series, and Quest for Glory are my favorite examples.

I agree that the music is the best part.

OOo, I think there’s a clip there in the end I haven’t seen yet.
I can see where they’re going with this trailer. The first half (David) is a little boring and the second half (after Sam enters his world) is being thrown for a spin. So in that sense, it’s a good message to send to the viewer about the gist of the story. A bit messy and all over the place, but decent.

*takes walking cane and whacks Tawmis over the head with it*
I still think the trailer is a very poor representation of the actual game. They need to show a LOT more in-game scenes. If they hope to acquire new blood (i.e. those who don't normally play Adventure games or haven't done so in years) then they'll need more than what they have right now.
