Are fanfics and/or Sierra-game-related songs unwelcome here?
I tried posting a couple, and they get many views but no replies (not even in the vein of "Your song stinks, get a real job").
So... just wondering.

Re: Hmm...
I dont' see why not.
Maybe there's not much to comment on them besides a small giggle.

Re: Hmm...
I saw the parody song you just posted!
I usually only comment if there's some kind of correction or suggestion for improvement of some sort (from my point of view) or if I didn't understand something... So I read the parody and thought it was well done (don't know the song you were actually parodying - but the lyrics were pretty funny!)

Re: Hmm...
I didn't know the song myself, so I wasn't sure what to say. Now that you've brought it up again, I've taken the time to look up the song and enjoy your new lyrics. It would make a great music video.
Getting comments has been a very frustrating struggle on my end. I can spend weeks to months working on one project and not get replies until I actually ask people about it. It's really about the subject matter and who you're making it for. For example, I've been wanting to make a QFG music video to the tune of "Now you're a Man." The main problem I already foresee is that both the song and the game are for generally different audiences. Half the people who watch it for the QFG factor won't know the song, and half the people who watch it for the song won't know the game. I've already made a few ill-fated music videos like that already, and it's really hard to come up with that right fusion everyone will relate to. Never let it discourage you, though. People are unpredictable and you'll never know when you'll accidentally touch down on that one thing that instantly makes you world-famous.
As for fan-fiction... well, I just don't really read fan-fiction that much anymore. For anyone who's read my Police Quest fan-fiction, you can probably tell that my attention span for reading is very limited.

Who cares if you get any replies? If you're writing and enjoy it, that's all that matters.Rath Darkblade wrote:Are fanfics and/or Sierra-game-related songs unwelcome here?

Go ahead and keep posting. Sometimes people might enjoy things, but don't respond. I often get next to no response on things I post that I would like to get some kind of reaction about. Usually I am not even asking to have my ego stroked, but just want some feedback to test or improve installers or tools.

Here's the original song on the Michael Parkinson show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDeRYmB4t6Q . Enjoy!Tawmis wrote:So I read the parody and thought it was well done (don't know the song you were actually parodying - but the lyrics were pretty funny!)
Glad you enjoyed my lyrics. I just thought of presenting QfG from the antwerp's POV.
Same with me. A reply along the lines of "Nice job" would be good, but it'd be nice to know what people really think so that I can improve my writing. That's all.Collector wrote:Go ahead and keep posting. Sometimes people might enjoy things, but don't respond.
