Steam and GOG sales

Post by DeadPoolX »

I thought it'd cool if we had a dedicated Steam and GOG thread for sales or whatever else. This way we wouldn't have to post new threads for each individual sale or notice.

Anyway...

If you've ever wanted to play Crysis and Crysis: Warhead, now's your chance on Steam. It's $14.95 for Crysis and $9.95 for Crysis: Warhead.

If you want to get both, they're offered as a "maximum edition" pack for $19.95.

This is a one-day only event. That one day is today, in case anyone was wondering. ;)

I'm seriously considering it. I've wanted to play both of those games, but the price has been too high for my tastes. I'm reading a few reviews first, but if it gets positive marks, I might just purchase it.

Here's one some of you might like: It's the TellTale Steam Play Pack 2.

The asking price is $49.99 USD. Considering the number of games you get in that pack, I'd say it's a good deal.

That's fine - but any GOG.com links you post, please post at the end of the URL:

/310b86e0b62b828562fc91c7be5380a992b2786a

So for example:

http://www.gog.com/kingsquestvii/310b86 ... a992b2786a

This way on the rare chance someone purchases the game through that link, SHP gets a small piece of the pie.

Small correction, it also has to have /pp, so it would be:

/?pp=310b86e0b62b828562fc91c7be5380a992b2786a

that should be added. So for GK1,

Code: Select all

Steam is having a massive one-day sale on Mass Effect for $4.99 and Mass Effect 2 at $23.99. If you don't have either, you can get both ME1 and ME2 together in a deluxe edition for $35.99.

The good part about this is obviously the lower price and you can use Steam's off-line mode since these are single-player games. The bad part is that both games are quite large with ME1 at 12 GB and ME2 at 15 GB.

So you basically have price vs convenience. :geek:

1. Steam is offering Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Deus Ex: Invisible War for $2.49 each and the Deus Ex Collection (includes both DX1 and DX2) for $4.98 USD right now.

The sale ends TODAY at 3PM Pacific time. I know, I'm late on the draw here, but I just found out.

If you haven't played either DX game and you've want to, I'd strongly recommend checking this sale out. Neither game costs much today (whether on Steam or not), but it's easy to get right now on Steam. GOG doesn't have it, although it may at some point in the future.

2. There's a game called Peggle Extreme that's absolutely free. It's not a demo. I don't know WHY it's free, but apparently it is. Check it out. :P

Also available on Steam for pre-purchase is Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition. If you pre-order you get The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition for free!

I already own SMI:SE, but I wish I had the money in my PayPal for MI2:SE. I'm hereby accepting donations for its purchase on my behalf.

The Telltale Everything Pack on Steam is now $49.99 USD. That's quite a deal seeing as Sam & Max Season 3 itself was released for roughly the same price. This includes anything related to Telltale that's on Steam which is pretty much everything they've ever done. A $237 value for only $50!

Note: It includes the entirety of Sam & Max Season 3 (The Devil's Playhouse) even though only 3 episodes are out so far, but it does not include Puzzle Agent, their latest game in their new "pilot program" which is not out yet.

Ok, Steam has a huge sale on every single game in their library (pretty much) until July 4th. It's pretty amazing. Valve complete pack $66.99, every Star Wars related game on Steam (besides LEGO Star Wars) $74.99, Call of Duty Collection $29.99 (previously $119.95), and tons more. It's pretty impressive. Check it out to see everything there.

Now that's the deal I was waiting for!

Too bad I missed out on the Mass Effect deal, but I think I'd rather own the disks than sit through waiting for the servers to let me download. It's taking me long enough to get Monkey Island going as it is.

Steam servers are usually very good, actually. I average at from 750 kbps - 1000+ kbps download speeds.

I wish I averaged that good. At best I'll get somewhere in the 300 kbps range and usually I get less. That makes downloading large games (like Batman: Arkham Asylum, Empire Total War, Residential Evil 5 and Left 4 Dead 2) an overnight experience.

Maia and I got RE5 and L4D2 at a great discount. RE5 was $12.95 and L4D2 was $10.50 (both were one-day sales, so they've gone back up to full price). Obviously, we had to buy two copies so we could play co-op together so the lower price helped a lot. In fact, if the price hadn't been that low, we probably wouldn't bought either of those.

I'm seriously looking at the Call of Duty Pack considering the price is $29.99 for five CoD titles, including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which I still see at $50 in stores. Even if I wanted to get CoD4:MW on Steam, the normal price is $29.99 which is what I'd pay for the entire pack right now.

Speaking of Steam prices... right now there's a 66% off deal on all Atari published games. What's weird about this is The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut is offered at 33% off, even thought it's widely stated that it's supposed to be 66% off instead.

I bought RE5 when it went on sale on Steam, too. While I'll admit that I'd rather play it on a console (as I did on all three consoles RE4 was released on), I'm having a lot of fun with it.

That said, I'll probably start using a 360 controller with it, though. I'm having serious issues with tweaking the sensitivity, and I'm only on chapter 1-3. I doubt I would have fun near the endgame with control issues.

Same here. The mouse/keyboard controls aren't very easy to use. I just hope I don't absolutely need a 360 controller. I have a gamepad, but it's made by Logitech. I know there's software out there that lets you emulate a 360 controller (I did that with Batman: Arkham Asylum and it works great), but the efficacy varies from game to game.

Probably my biggest issue is that the cinematics visually stutter, black out and the audio screws up. The actual game runs just fine, but the movies screw up starting with the intro.

Oh and I don't know if you have an problem with the field-of-view (i.e. about 3/4 of the screen taken up with your character), but if you do there's an FOV mod to adjust that. I don't know how well it works since I haven't tried it yet. If you want it, tell me and I can email it to you or possibly send it through a PM.
